I'm interested in creating a server that runs 24/7 and records programming from IPTV services automatically from different channels I select...and then being able to power on an android tv box and accessing the programming easily and possibly the live iptv service through the server.

I've been using TIVO for YEARS and trying to replicate that experience but I am tired of paying $180 a month for cable.

Android not best server for that. In any case server is not end-user task. You must collect lot of information. Or try ready server for example from TBS
