DVB-T with PROGDVB?

Hello

I have a Pinnacle 300i Hybrid analogic and DVB-T card, and the last two days I was fighting with it and progdvb to make it work, but there was no luck...

I assume that ProgDVB can work with this kind of tv cards, maybe I am wrong?

ProgDVB recognise the BDA dvb-t card, and analogue too, but I can´t (or don´t know how to do it) sintonize the channels.

The tv card work perfectly with another tv software, so I am sure there isn´t any problem with it or the drivers...

Anybody could help me?

THANKS

DVB work well but in analogue i have some problem..
josepz wrote:ProgDVB recognise the BDA dvb-t card, and analogue too, but I can´t (or don´t know how to do it) sintonize the channels.
Install ProgDVB 6.04.04std is a good release. Don't check Analogue TV module and complete installation. ELECARD codec: Don't install it if you have installed Pinnacle TV software OR Cyberlink PowerDVD (PowerCinema) OR nVIDIA Purevideo shareware (nvDVD and you have a nVIDIA VGA).
Download and install "Dscaler 5" for audio and video.

Run ProgDVB. Select your region.
In setting-> device option select "Generic BDA" (for me is OK) or "Microsoft compliant BDA.." OK.
In setting-> select your language if download.
In setting-> Option select the audio and video codec.
for Audio MPG and AC3: Dscaler is OK.
for Video note: D-scaler is a good codec but when TV provider change the stream aspect ratio from 4-3 to 16-9 and viceversa the SOFTWARE CRASH and PROGDVB crash. In Italy the DVB-T channel "Rai 4" is an example.
With another codec there are no problem.

Close the program and re-launch it.

In Channel list -> Channel search (BDA Pinnacle.....) and you will found your the channels.

For analog TV:
Install the software SD MPEG-2 Encoders for analog TUNER from download page, install it and in ProgDVB enable the module in setting-> device list (the 2° line, the first for my card is S-VHS IN ??? or component IN?????)
Select the video standard.
I've this problem: some frequency channel are different. ProgDVB have a file txt Russia.ini with video standard SECAM D but in Italy we have PAL B/G AND in low channel CH1,CH2 (VHF) the frequency are wrong from CH21 (UHF) is OK.
Solution: I've edit the file and i change SECAM D to PAL G.
But....
PAL G in device Option is'nt. Are PAL B but not PAL G.

Only one chance i' ve found the channels BUT i don't repeat any time.
In this chance when select an channel i never see the video and never heard the audio.

Where i mistake? HELP! ;-)

First, just let me give you a big THANKS for your help.

I have been downloading the soft you said, but I can´t find Dscaler5, I only founded Dscaler 4, if is the TVviewer, or Dscaler 5008 if are the media codecs...

What do you mean with Dscaler 5, the media codecs or TVviewer software?

THANKS again.

Download and install DScaler5008.exe from SouceForge.net. I'm using this.

Then you are Italian? Nice place, I am Spanish, but I was in Italy last year at hollidays... and hope come back again soon, to see what I didn´t had time.
I followed all steps, and now the Pinnacle DVB-T works perfectly... THANKS.
But analog tuner don´t work at all... I follow step by step, but when search for channels, I have no signal... but I think I am in the right way...maybe is only a matter of time and try other configurations.

What I see is Dscaler and SD MPEG-encoders for tunner aren´t necessary for DVB-T, I installed them and later uninstall, and all works with Nvidia or Powerdvd codecs...

For analog not sure, because I can´t make it work, with or without Dscaler and SD MPEG-encoders...

Maybe what I will say is an stupid thing, but, Have you tried with the blind scan for the Italian analog channels?
About the SECAM or PAL, here, in Spain, we have PAL B/G too, and I can change to PAL B or PAL G in module and device list options
I see the russian ini too, that have the Russian frecuencies, maybe you need an Italian file with the frecuencies if blind scan don´t work.

I have too Pinnacle BDA tuner in device list, first is for S-VHS and component -in, that corresponds with my Pinnacle Svideo-in rear connector, and composite rear connection, and the second that is for video tunner, the right choose for sintonize analog channels.

At times I get a message saying "Selected video codec and multiplexer can´t accept signal from tunner" and then "Error to connect mpg-2 filters" even with Dscaler and SD MPEG-2 encoders, and register all filters in the filters directory....

Maybe that is the problem for me, so I will continue fighting with this fool card...
If finally I can get analog channels working, I will post how I do, I think Italian and Spanish channel are very close, and maybe can help you too.

Again, thanks for your help.

Are you sure, that Russia and Italy frequency are the same?
P.S. Why you editing Russia.ini? Copy it to Italy.ini and edit it. When you install ProgDVB again, you changes in Russia.ini void.

josepz wrote: What I see is Dscaler and SD MPEG-encoders for tunner aren´t necessary for DVB-T, I installed them and later uninstall, and all works with Nvidia or Powerdvd codecs...
OK, I use Dscaler only for audio AC3.
josepz wrote:For analog not sure, because I can´t make it work, with or without Dscaler and SD MPEG-encoders...
Analog should work with only SD MPEG-Encoders (not with Dscaler wich is only for DVB-T because is a decoder filter) but don't work with my Pinnacle 310i.
When i activate the device in the window of proprieties of PROGDVB analog module in "standard video" in the options are PAL_B,PAL_D,PAL_60?,ECAM_H? but not PAL G.
If I select "Pinnacle PCTV Analog tuner...." in the bottom proprieties there are all correct standard video but the signal is not detect.
VCR flag do nothing.
Closing the windows i have a message box "Error to connect mpg-2 filters".
If i select "custom" in the proprieties of analog module i have to select "Cyberlink muxer" or "PCM MPEG muxer". The last, wich software have installed them?

Audio and Video codec ....nothing to select (blank list).
josepz wrote:Maybe what I will say is an stupid thing, but, Have you tried with the blind scan for the Italian analog channels?
Yes, the two time it works i' ve tried blind search because i know the channel/frequencies in my region.
josepz wrote:I have too Pinnacle BDA tuner in device list, first is for S-VHS and component -in, that corresponds with my Pinnacle Svideo-in rear connector, and composite rear connection, and the second that is for video tunner, the right choose for sintonize analog channels.

I have never see this message...

OK thanks :-). In Italy within two years the analogic stream are in switch-off. I think of our card work perfecty in three years.

I do it :-) UHF frequency are the same but VHF not. I have edited by this italian site (look please)

In the file, what is inversion?
And this is the syntax of file:

[TERTYPE]
1=Italy TV
2=Italy TV Channels
[DVB]
;Position = Channelname,Frequency(KHz),Inversion(0,1),0,Bandwidth (7MHz=1, 8MHz=2)
0=61
1=C01,48.250,PAL_B
2=C02,53.750,PAL_B
.....

But the description line isn' t wrong??? It should be:
;Position = Channelname,Frequency(KHz),video standard (PAL_[x] , SECAM_[x] )

/OT ON:
I hate Pinnacle!  In italian forums all user with these card-usb stick are angry with a pinnacle software slow, greddy and buggy.
Another problem is remote control. WinLirc don't work because the sensor is connected directly in the card and not in COM port.
This card seem to work with linux and i've found the file .cfg for LIRC (in WINLIRC 0.65 don't work). If you search T.P.M. (french software) you found a nice program but i have a problem with a file "profiles.ini" (?????) during installation...

The only relevant difference between PAL B and PAL G is, B stands for VHF bands and a 7 MHz frequency raster, G for UHF with 8 MHz stepping. Bandwidth this is on DVB-T, on analogue not even this.
Everything else is identical. Even neighbour channel carrier suppressor filters (if any) aren't switched these days, but both kinds being active constantly.

As ProgDVB does not use a frequency stepping, but transponder lists or blind scan instead, the difference betweeen B and G standards does not matter at all, like between D and K. Completely irrelevant here...

TV mechanic's arguments ;)

Then, the SD MPEG-2 encoders appears in your options- video menu?
I have a list with installed codecs, like Nvida pure video, Ciberlink, Dscaler and so on, but no SD MPEG-2 encoder to select, even I installed them

Maybe all the problem was a problem with the SD encoders installation??

I don´t think that was the problem because DVB-T work right with Nvidia codec....

Please, let me know if you have it selected... I like to have the analog tuner working... here the analog will be down at 2010, but there will be some minor tv stations that will remain in analog yet, maybe some years more, that have very interesting channels...

Now I use another software for analog tv, and is a pity can´t have all in the same program...

Same problem here.

I use a Cinergy 1200 DVB-C and a Winfast TV2000XP Expert analogue TV-card. All original Software is installed (WinPVR and Terratec Home Cinema).
So there must also installed a Mpeg-2 encoder.

There are:
ProgDVB Settings -> Options -> Video -> MPEG2:
- ffdshow Video Decoder
- ArcSoft Video Decoder
- Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PVD8)
- Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (Terratec)

ProgDVB Settings -> Options -> Audio -> MPEG2 and AC3:
- ffdshow Audio Decoder
- ArcSoft Audio Decoder
- MPEG Audio decoder
- Cyberlink Audio Decoder (Terratec)

Device Options for WinFast:

"Select Video Encoder" the only entry is ArcSoft Video Encoder

"Select Muxer/Multiplexer" is empty and there are in the dropdown list:
- Cinergy 1200 DVB-C Tuner (BDA)
- Cinergy 1200 DVB-C Capture (BDA)
- Terratec DVR Capture Peer BDA Filter
- Terratec DVR PS to TS

when Cinergy 1200 DVB-C Tuner, Cinergy DVB-C Capture is choosen:

Code: Select all

Filter Cinergy 1200 DVB-C (BDA) not created.
Selected Video Codec can't render correct stream for Mpeg2Muxer.
Error to connect Mpeg-2 Filter.
Terratec DVR Capture Peer BDA Filter returns no error.
But if I choose a tv channel:

Code: Select all

Error in StartStream (connect from Multiplexer)
Terretec DVR PS to TS returns:

Code: Select all

Selected Video Codec can't render correct stream for Mpeg2Muxer.
Error to connect Mpeg-2 Filter.
I tried also the SD MPEG-2 Encoders pack with
unchecked "Custom Codecs settings".
With this one I hear sound, but see nothing.

nierewa: i' ve read your topic....

IMHO the problem is in the filtergraph.... in codecs and IMHO the analog module is still immature....

IMHO I think for display an analogic video the program have need an MUXER, ENCODER MPEG2 and a MP2 audio ENCODER because it do to create the timeshift and the capacity to save a file MPG (or TS ??). Is the viceversa of DVB stream where for display the video need a DEMUXER, an MPEG decoder and Audio decoder.

I've tried to install the software of WinfastTV, free to download, (but i've a Pinnacle 310i). The program don't work (naturally, check the card) but i've had the codec ARCsoft.

ProgDVB in setting analog module Device Options show in "Select Video Encoder" the ONLY entry "ArcSoft Video Encoder" before i 've blank dropdown.
Encoder is only possibility set to 176x120 MPG1...... :?: :?:

For Muxer, i have Cyberlink MPEG muxer, and PCM MPEG muxer in dropdown (Cyberlink PowerCinema).
Click on OK, I have an error for "Audio encoder not select ANALOG MODULE not start".

I 'm repeated me (Prog, I didn't mean to offend you, I like so much ProgDVB)
IMHO the problem is in the filtergraph.... in the type of codecs (ENCODERS) to use and IMHO the analog module is still immature....

Now AnalogTV module orientated for "SD MPEG-2 Encoders pack for AnalogTuner module". if you don`t want to buy it, you can create encoding graph manually for your risk.

AnalogTV module create only MPEG2 program stream on output.

Omihalcon I don`t understand, what difficulty you have met in transponder ini file creation?

Excuse me Akad, the problem aren't to buy "SD MPEG-2 Encoders pack for AnalogTuner module" but, and are almost three user, do to work analog module. the best result are of nierewa:

Is for the edit and creating the file italy.ini?
I 've "modded" russia.ini with this italian site (look please) and i've creating an italy.ini

nierewa, in your custom configuration, you wrote:

but in "Select Audio Encoder" you have "Elecard Layer2 audio encoder"?
or... What audio encoder you have select?
