Does MSI MegaSky work with ProgDVB?

#1
Hi there,

my name is Max and I came here, because I didn't get ProgDVB to work.
I have a MSI MegaSky 580 DVB-T Stick (USB) which works with the software that comes with it (PrestoPVR) on Windows 7(32bit). Since I find this Presto-thing pretty crappy, I decided to give ProgDVB a try. Unfortunately, I can't get it to work. So my first question is, does my Stick work with ProgDVB? My second question is, if it works in general, then how?
As I said, I run it under Windows 7 (no Beta, no RC - but the final version). ProgDVB is version 6.20.04 Standard. ProgDVB recognizes the Stick as "{BDA} Digital TV USB Mini Receiver". Under Settigs->Device Options I've chosen "Generic BDA". If I go to Channel list->Channel search it finds simply nothing. If the DVB-T Stick is supported, I'm pretty sure, the fail is on my side, but I've no clue what I'm doing wrong. The "Manual" on your page is not much of a helpful one, so I'm really thankful for any help whatsoever.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Best regards
Max

Please forgive me, if something is misspelled. English is not my native language.

MSI MegaSky 580 USB DVB-T tuner.
Driver (Device Manager) GenesyLogic v1.5.0.1 14/02/2006

On Windows XP Prof 32 bit,
MUST-Latest version of Directx installed (mine 9c)
(eg DirectX 9c is a standard and NOT a version, MS
release about 4 new versions of 9c per year)

Removed ProgDVB
ReBoot
Delete any remaining ProgDVB Directory
Clean machine using CCleaner incl Registry

Run ProgDVB6.45Std.Exe accepting settings except where noted.
(when updating from previous version, I did originally get
some kind of error message as my security software was
preventing update of a file, may need to temporarily disable
Anti virus etc during install/update)

untick - Internet TV, Radio, YouTube
Timeshift - Disable
Remote control type - None

Run ProgDVB
Menu/Settings/Provider/
Region - United Kingdom
City - London

Menu/Settings/Options
Main/ Stability mode - tick

Audio/ Use Audio Processor - Untick (AGC LOUD-QUIET, avoid)

Record/ Path - to suit

Auto Update/ Deselect all (I dont like auto anything)

Other/ Use only 1 CPU - tick

APPLY and OK

Menu/Channel List/Channel Search/{BDA} PC-DTV Receiver/
(6 transponders found OK)

Works just fine.

You quite often have to disconnect and re-connect from USB
to get it to work, especially after cold boot. :)

EDIT:- You may also need to disable the Scheduler program
of the original software, that may interfere with ProgDVB.
