Hello Prog,

I have made 2 TS recordings for the subtitle problem. There is a shot one 1 minute (23MB) and a longer one 5 minutes (120 MB).

How should I send the files to you? Do you have an FTP where I can copy them? If so please send me the connect parameters by email (it is the same one set for my forum user).

Now I have a third TS file (100MB) from a different channel in which the subtitles go to the right and a part of them are not visible any more. This happens right after the commercial brake, It seems that some special subtitles are used during the promo.

This is how I have recorded it: 2 minutes before and 2 minutes after.

As I haven't received any email about an FTP where to upload the files I have uploaded them to RapidShare and sent you an email with the links. Please let me know if you got them and if there are of any good.

I am running 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate, and I've run it in /debug mode so far, but it won't run as a scheduled task to open the program automatically at certain times, so what's wrong with this?

Graphics card is NVIDIA 9500GT and I use a DVB-T tuner.

any other Windows 7 users had the same problem?

thanx

Were you able to reproduce the subtitle problem with the TS files?

Meanwhile I think that I have figured out why the image and/or sound disappears when switching from one channel to the other when the Elcard demux is used.

From what I have seen this happens when going from one channel encoded with constant bit rate to one with variable bit rate.

Constant bit rate channel:

ID : C9
Complete name : D:\recording\Realitatea TV - January 04 16 20 39.ts
Format : MPEG-TS
File size : 29.4 MiB
Duration : 1mn 11s
Overall bit rate : 3 432 Kbps

Video
ID : 101 (0x65)
Menu ID : 110 (0x6E)
Format : MPEG Video
Format version : Version 2
Format profile : Main@Main
Format settings, BVOP : Yes
Format settings, Matrix : Default
Format settings, GOP : M=3, N=24
Codec ID : 2
Duration : 1mn 11s
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 3 158 Kbps
Width : 544 pixels
Height : 576 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 4:3
Frame rate : 25.000 fps
Color space : YUV
Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0
Bit depth : 8 bits
Scan type : Interlaced
Scan order : Top Field First
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.403
Stream size : 26.6 MiB (90%)

Variable bit rate channel:

ID : 67
Complete name : D:\recording\TVR 1 - January 04 16 22 34.ts
Format : MPEG-TS
File size : 55.3 MiB
Duration : 1mn 3s
Overall bit rate : 7 269 Kbps

Video

Menu ID : 10 (0xA)
Format : MPEG Video
Format version : Version 2
Format profile : Main@Main
Format settings, BVOP : Yes
Format settings, Matrix : Default
Format settings, GOP : M=3, N=15
Codec ID : 2
Duration : 1mn 3s
Bit rate mode : Variable
Bit rate : 6 716 Kbps
Nominal bit rate : 7 489 Kbps
Width : 720 pixels
Height : 576 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 4:3
Frame rate : 25.000 fps
Standard : PAL
Color space : YUV
Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0
Bit depth : 8 bits
Scan type : Interlaced
Scan order : Top Field First
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.648
Stream size : 50.5 MiB (91%)

PS: Cannot use the others demux due to channels that do not work at all with MS and Cyberlink.

OK. I will upload the samples in the next hour. But there are two other questions first:

1. There are other demux that should be used? I am thinking if there is something from FFDShow that could be used.
2. If the elcard demux cannot be modified then there would be another option beside modifying the prog demux (this supports even less channels then the other 3 demux and I think will be a waste of time).

My proposal would be to have an setting in the options that should reset the demux at channel change. I know that this will increase the duration of the channel change and for this should not be enabled by default. If there are such problems when changing channels then you should recommend the user to enable it.

Usually the problem is fixed by doing one the following:
1. Change to a channel from a diferrent device.
2. Enter the option dialog and press OK or Apply.
3. Press Stop button and reselect the channel.
4. Select the Close video window and reselect the channel.

I assume that all of these reset something... the same reset should be done by the proposed option at channel change.

Will this be difficult to implement? Do you think that it makes sense and will help others?

I may ask a stupid question but here it is: this MS demux can be updated or changed in any way or it is hardcoded? I intend to start experimenting with it maybe I can find a solution. Depends on the mediaplayer? I do not use it and there is an old version (10) on my system.

I know about the Elecard ones. I have been playing with them for the last two days but no improvement. :(

Probably I will have to live with these problems. The easiest fix seem to be to press Stop and reselect the channel when this happens. And if I am really lucky the cable guys will change the settings for those channels. Day dreaming...
