No signal detected on AVer Media A310 (last good 6.81) [reopen]
-----
Hallo Prog,

I am sorry for the delay in answering you,
and I am sorry to say that unluckily the problem is NOT solved.

With 6.83.3 simply enabling ITunerRequest solved my problem.

Yesterday I tried 6.84 and unluckily I was unable to see anything, i.e. the screen was black.
I tried to:
- Enable / Disable ITunerRequest
- Reinstall 6.84
But everything remained black

I forgot to tell you that even if verything is black, the EPG decoding works and presents me with the programs.

I reinstalled the 6.81 and everything worked !

Is there a way I can help you diagnose where the problem is?

Best regards

Hmm ... channel list grouping problem is not yet 100% solved - as follows:

if you create a new channel list, it is first only groupable by country, genre or none - even if you select any of the hardware devices with transponders. You have to create it (click OK) - and after it, if you reopen the channel list properties window, the full grouping options (satellite/network/provider/transponder/none) is back again ...

PS: 6.84.1 is announced, but not yet downloadable?

Hi Prog,

I spent some time in the weekend to diagnose what the trouble could be and I come out with some good news (at least I home).

I noticed that when I have the screen blank and no signal/quality with the latest version 6.84, switching to driver "Microsoft compliant BDA driver" restores functionality !!! :D

Switching back to "Avermedia" turns the screen back and makes signal and quality disappear.
Switching again back to "Microsoft compliant BDA driver" again restores functionality.

So it seems there is a problem within the AverMedia driver in versions >6.83.
By the way, I seem to remember... didn't you post a note regarding Avermedia drivers in one of the latest releases?

Moreover, while using the Avermedia drivers I was not able to find a repeatable pattern of cases where version 6.84 would work or fail, i.e.:
- Installed 6.84 version on top of 6.81 -> ok
- Tried to standby the laptop and once back launch 6.84 -> ok
- Tried to hibernate the laptop and once back launch 6.84 -> fail
- Deinstalled 6.84, cleaned registry and reinstalled 6.84 -> fail
- Deinstalled 6.84, cleaned registry and reinstalled 6.81 -> ok
- Installed 6.84 version on top of 6.81 -> fail

As I wrote earlier, only switching to "Microsoft compliant BDA driver" let me use 6.84 with no troubles.

- Finally, I also tried to check codecs, but I use the same between 6.81 and 6.84, as follows:
Video renderer Enhanced Video Renderer
Mpeg-2 Mpeg4 Decoder DMO
H.264/AVC DivX H.264 Decoder
WMV VMVideo Decoder DMO
Mpeg4 Mpeg4 Decoder DMO
Mpeg43 Mpeg43 Decoder DMO
Mpeg4s Mpeg4s Decoder DMO
H.263
VP6

Let me know if I can help you by performing some more tests.

best regards

Hi there, I'm new here but I am a big fan of ProgDVB. It may be difficult to set up for some novice users but it really is great when you get it going. I just want to contribute my findings on glitches.

A few bugs:

* The highlighted portion of the EPG is two hours earlier than where the red line shows the current time is, so the wrong programmes are highlighted if they're less than 2 hours long. The red line is correct -- the highlighted parts are not.

* Ampersands describing the current programme are displayed in the status bar as mnenomics, for example 'Black & White' would be displayed as 'Black _White'. This may be fixable simply by replacing all instances of '&' with '&&'.

* Also, some accented characters are displayed oddly in the status bar. Unfortunately I don't have an example for you of this right now!

* The channel's context menu in the EPG has been removed. It used to have options such as 'Change Channel' available (now you need to double-click on a channel to change, which is okay), now it has the same items as the EPG itself, for example 'Copy Programm' (should be spelt 'Programme', or 'Program' would be ok).

* DVB-T channels that are off-air and are only showing text (on a normal DVB-T receiver) have to be manually retuned when those channels are on-air. For example, BBC3 is off-air in the afternoon before 7PM. This isn't the end of the world, but people unfamiliar with ProgDVB may not understand how to do this without doing a full retune. The problem is, doing a full retune will lose channels that are off-air at that time, so if you retune in the evening, you lose channels that are only shown in the morning/afternoon.

A few improvements:

* It would be a good idea to lock the aspect ratio of the window on windowed mode, and When the aspect ratio changes, to resize the window but keep the central point (or the bottom-left origin) the same. For example, 4:3 programmes in 16:9 always show huge borders.

* It would be nice to customise the ratio other than 100% in the windowed mode that removes the border.

* Having the red line pass over all the programmes in the EPG thinnly would be good -- when you have lots of channels you have to trace the line down by eye :)

1. Please show on picture this problem.

2. Do you xmltv like source? I check this...

5. ProgDVB remove old items from base if more 24h old.

improvements:

1. zoom100 not good? It is not very clear without zoom 100...

3. Can you show it on picture?

1) Attached is the problem, note the current programme I'm watching is highlighted dark blue, and all the wrong programmes are highlighted light blue (they don't correspond with where the red line is):
Image
2) The EPG is populated from my DVB-T receiver.

5) Okay, but if you remove DVB-T channels that are only transmitting text at certain intervals during the day, then you are forcing UK users to retune twice per day. The only way round this with ProgDVB is to select the channel in the list, view the Channel Properties, and click 'Update' when it's on-air. Channels transmitting text appear as a disc icon (on the default theme) and a 'V' when they're on-air when you do the full rescan. Regular terrestrial tuners (even my ~6 year old one) manage to pick up BBC3 when it's off air and only transmitting text and add it to the channel list, and when the programme is next on-air it shows the picture fine. I can understand though this might be difficult to replicate without the hardware (and living in the UK).

Regarding the improvements:

1) Zoom 100% is clear, yes, -- but with a DVB-T tuner resizing the window to other sizes is clear too. I'm only using ProgDVB as a DVB-T tuner.

3) I have drawn a thin red line down the EPG as an example of how EPGs are often presented:

(Note that the blue highlight is still wrong in this screenshot).

Update: The 'Upload Attachment' function appears to be throwing away my files, so I have attached the pictures inline.

Update 2: Yet another bug has been found I'm afraid, the 'Find' function does not work in the EPG grid! (maybe something to do with Unicode/ANSI??)
