I got a new Toshiba laptop and I removed its vista and installed XP. When I installed the Skystar2 card then Prog, it started crashing especially when I open the device list. It looks like Prog crashed when it read info from the card. There is a signal from the dish but when I scan channels no channels are found. I used v 4.72.3 and even 4.85 but they are the same. I didnt get any error messages but the channels just dont show. Any idea?

What satelite(s) are you on?

No error messages, just crash

This happens with hotbird
The original application scans channels and saves them but no picture either.
Do I expect any difference with the 5.x version?

5.x basic functions and requirements are identical.

On the original application, do you get EPG, Now/Next and TXT?
Are the PIDs correct, for audio and video? Compare with satcodx.com for one or two main stations.
Then, would a recording play outside of the original application, somehow?
If so, it seems, you are missing a working codec in it (and ProgDVB, too).

Regarding the driver, most reports on a well working one relate to 4.4.x

Update DirectX to latest 9x sub version and latest patches for it.
After updating DirectX, it may be helpful, to reinstall or update your VGA driver.

I cant compare the PID and other info since the Prog doesnt work at all. It crashed from the beginning.

PID cpmparison was related to the original application, of course. I told so...
Same for codec and similar.

Get the original application working first.

After that, you may have to stop an auto started data application, that comes wit it, to get access to the device from 3rd party soft.
