i have ss1 & i'm having problems while recording in progdvb, sometimes it just stops on it's own..record button is active, it counts time but it freezes the megabyte count...& yes the actual recording is stopped from there.
so my question is,...can i set progdvb record speed, like in mytheatre, where default is 1x? (i never had problems while recording with mytheatre, btw).
should i change MaxRecordSpeed=3072000 in progdvb.ini to a lower value? & what should i put instead of 3072000 ?

As it's an SS1, what hardware revision, precisely?
Should be printed in copper on the board, normally.
What brand and model?

However, record speed setting normally should not matter at all, as even stone age HDDs or USB1.1 connected flash memory should be fast enough for this. Normal DVB signals are below 1 MByte per second.

So there's a big chance, your trouble source is to be found elsewhere, like on OS, file system or disk quota, RAM / swap file usage, services like indexing, all kind of drivers, firewall, AntiVirus, whatever else interfering...

well, like i sad, i don't have problems with MT,..so must be somethin' else there...
btw, i take good care of my os every day, using the best tools out there for hdd, registry...etc & my computer should be no problem eather, intel pentium D, over 1gb of ram...& so on.
i use xp pro sp2 with firewall disabled & don't use any antiviruses while recording.

Well, I don't have any recording problems with my Nexus 2.2, on Win98SE, 2k SP4 or XP SP2, nor with Linux VDR. Same with the 1.3 before.

But I'm always running in true HW mode (not using nasty PCI-e drivers), and I'm always recording to FAT32, as this file system performs much better than NTFS (or any Linux FS) here.

Also I'm always recording to a dedicated physical disk (not just partition), that's not used for swap / cache / whatsoever.
And of course it's not indexed in any way.

Not to forget to mention, started here on a PII 400 MHz @ i440BX with 128 MB SDRAM and 40 GB ATA33 some years ago.


Well, there is a bunch of other possible causes, that may - e.g. due to priorities or buffer handling - also have some different effect on different DVB applications.
Worst of all are networking related problems, like from a firewall or any software automatics, as frequent e-mail or messenger polling, for example.
And recently I have identified Nero InCD as a cause of frequent IDE controller load peaks. Other Mt.Rainier drivers may behave similar.

Also possible to try and run ProgDVB with a higher priority.
