12 Minute search

Version 4.84.1, LNG 4.2.3, API 1.33 dont find this new Transponder

Version 5.1.144 dont know my Nexus-S Card.

4.84.1 still is my default version over here, W9x variant.
A new transponder will not be found in the transponder file, that came with that version in April '07.
So you have to update the transponder file.
Either copy from a modern version, or get an up-to-date file from joshyfun.peque.org, for example.
For Astra 19.2°E it's 0192.ini you need.

The transponder files normally only include active transponders, to shorten scan time.
But of course you can also scan manually, don't have to make a full scan.
The transponder should already be in the table, to avoid all of it's stations getting declared as lost after the next full scan.

If I remember well, the transponder mentioned was in use for analogue until some time ago, this for it won't have made sense, to scan it digitally.

thank you for ur answer. Unfortunately i dont works. I took the transponderfile from Version 5.13.0 but the file starts with 10788 and the transponder of ARD is 10743...please see the copy of the 192.ini below.

i dl the file 0192.NIT.Set but i dont know how to install it. The Sticky also dont tell me more about that.

Simply edit the 0192.ini
Add the new transponder at the end with proper line number, increase the transponder count value (0=76 to 0=77 in your case).

Or get a new file from joshyfun.peque.org

Sorry, I did not step over a file "0192.NIT", perhaps because I did not play around with the latest versions of ProgDVB yet.
I am talking about the standard transponder file format, that's used since the very beginning of ProgDVB.

Now, this 0192.ini is not to be installed in any way, just copied into the transponders folder, or edited.
This specially formatted text file contains a line for the amount of transponders, which tells the application, after which line to stop scanning.
So, if you have e.g. 80 transponder entries inside, this count line will be 0=80.
You wrote:

Adding a 77th one would mean to change the value to

0=77

- Editor

Once you have edited in the new transponder, what exactly happens, if you (try to) scan it manually?
What if you change the frequency up and down a bit, up to +/- 5 MHz ?
Here it's working fine with 4.84.1w9x, lock / hold range is +/- 3 MHz.

This new transponder is quite close to the lower band limit, this for some LNBs do lose some gain there at. Also the dishes gain and focus are a bit worse at low frequencies.

Additionally, sometimes an LNB's LOF(1) may be off center a bit.

All cirumstances together may occasionally cause tuning to fail then. Unprecise dish alignment my cause more trouble, due to polarisation (bad skew / LNB tilt) or position crosstalk.

If you can only get a lock with some offset, find the center of the hold range, correct the LOF in use, for that offset, but into the opposite direction. Store. Then scan again.

Manual fine tuning can be done in 'search transponder' dialogue, by changing the frequency value and clicking the white area to execute.

Obviously you should look for some literature on 'Satellite TV for beginners'.
This place is for ProgDVB, not for satellite basics.

Anyway, LOF means Local Oscillator Frequency.
That's a down converting stage in the LNB, that converts from Ku band to the range of 950 to 2150 MHz, that's transported through the LNB cable.
So, technically the software does not tune to 10743 MHz but to 10743 - 9750 = 993 MHz. The software needs to know the LOF value to calculate for tuning.
There are two LOFs on a European style LNB, 9750 MHz for low band, 10600 MHz for high band.
If a local oscillator is not aligned perfectly, the value for the software has to be corrected. LOF alignemt can't be done on the LNB itself these days, so the installer would NOT have done it.
A satellite frequency has to be tuned very accurate, else your tuner can't lock to the signal. +/- 3 MHz are the acceptable tolerance, in most cases. Outside of this area, the tuner would not get a lock or lose it, therefore not be able to read data from above.

Regarding dish alignment, this should in fact not matter in your case, as long as this was done properly.

ok no PM i understand. my adjustmets with LOF and
all that stuff are correct in ProgDVB 4.84.1, 4.85.3, 4.85.1

what i found out: ARTE is the problem. when i click on ARTE
at the new transponder ProgDVB 4.84.1 hangs up all other channels
working fine. so i delete ARTE from my favorite list. any explanations
why ARTE crashes ProgDVB?

ProgDVB 4.85.3 still dont find the new transponder. so i dont use 4.85.3 anymore...

i try to get a 5.xx.x Version to run here

Sorry, I can't find anything unusual on new arte, except, of course, of the two audio streams. But those also exist on the old transponder.

Just one last idea of mine:
Try to find out, if the hangup depends on the signal itself or, for example a corrupt channel list.
Just remove the LNB cable (with computer down and mains power plug out, of course) and try to switch to that station again.
Still hanging up --> bad channel list or similar
No more hangup --> perhaps a codec / renderer issue, in any case signal related somehow

BTW, what kind of hangup, precisely?
Freeze of ProgDVB or the whole machine, with no message? Wait a few minutes, if it recovers.
Or an error message occurs? Details, please, on the module involved, or if ProgDVB can still be closed normally instead of hittin OK on the message box, and so on.

We are fighting with computer logics here, so precision is a must.

No Error Message appears, ProgDVB freezes, the sound still plays
i have to kill the ProgDVB Process with TaskManager but the sound still plays. i have to start ProgDVB again then the sound stops a short time
and starts again with the new ProgDVB Process. my PC is not freeze.

i will test tonight and wait a few minutes maybe ProgDVB recovers

i do the test but ProgDVB hangs up and dont recovers...

I don't know a way to freeze HW mode video overlay, when audio is still getting decoded...

Are you using software mode?
Then please try HW mode, to compare.
No trouble there, supposed codec / renderer issues.

Or do you use the special PCI-e / KS driver?
If so, compare with the HW TV-out, please.
If OK there, again a codec / renderer issue, that can't be controlled from ProgDVB in HW mode..
