Allow me a question (as I don't have that card):

What device file is used for it?

Semms to me, that device does not support the original remote port.
If in doubt, look into the device list again and mark that device, to get it's features listed.

Perhaps the original software uses some proprietary tricks to connect ot it.
AFAIK a chipset integrated IR port is not supported by the MS defined BDA architecture.
Prog would need a fully working SDK, to analyze and implement things like this, no idea, if that's available.

indeed, the remote control feature does not appear in the device list.
Too bad.
Anyway, thanks for your help Juergen.

Still a chance, to try to go the Lirc way.
You would need a serial port IR adaptor then, as mentioned many times before.

BTW, do you have the chance, to test your remote on a Philips (comaptible) TV set?
Or try a universal remote, if it works on the original application, in any of the Philips TV codes and basic functions (like Mute, Vol +/-, Power Off).
As I did not yet have such a card in my hands, I'd like to find out, if it's still the same thing as on the SS1.
