Hi Guys
What are the main reasons that make image freezes from time to time while recording in ProgDvB ?
I'm already having this problem .. Is that a CODEC issue or what (I only have Elecard codec .. and .. Divx 6.4 )??
I am really confused cause I've dicovered also that the length of recording path is also a reason for freezing (i.e : when I recorded in ' F:\ ' , I got No Problem , But when recording in 'F:\Recorded_Materials\' , I got the problem
)
So .. Could You Please Tell Me What EXACTLY are the main reasons for that Recording Problem ??
Thanks in Advance

Don“t have this problem here....and i think that not depends on progdvb...
Reason can be (generell): Codec problems, running programms in background (antivirus, firewall),plugins, fragmentet hd etc...
btw. we are not visually handicapped here

When does this freezing happen, during recording or at playback time?
Well, and you served us BIG and even colourish letters, but almost no details...
My magic crystal ball is out for polishing.

Hi Silencer
.. Hi Juergen

.
It happens during Recording .. every thing is PERFECT At PlayBack
I have :
- TwinHan 1025
- Intel Celeron Microprocessor , 1.7 GHz , 128 kB Cashe
- 256 MB RAM
+ Windows XP SP2
there is another thing .. the signal Quality & Level are low .. they're about ( 38 --> 50 ) - but Playback is OK -
so.., Can the signal -SomeHow- be affected By Recording ?
Thanks in Advance

No, recording does not effect the tuner in any way.
But bad signal may confuse your codec (in use), due to missing / bad frames.
Recording is not dirctly effected by this, "just" the file would contain errors then, that might, but not must, be ignored at playback (on another software, at least).
If your recordings are fine, even those made while the PC screen picture was frozen, it seems to me, you will either have some codec / graph / renderer trouble, or something happens on time shift (and you're recording directly, not shifted).
Can't help on software decoding (see my sig), same goes for time shift under Windows. Just one thought, if any possible, have the timeshift work either on another (physical!) hard disk or in RAM.

Hi Juergen
Thanks so much for your kind helping
I feel that "Time Shifting" is the cause of my Problem
Can it somehow be disabled ?? I don't see "Disable" option for it
The most weird thing for me as I said in the first post , is: when I record in a long path directory I got image freezing from time to time during recording and also during the playback of the MPG2 file
unfortunately I don't have another HDD nor RAM to test time shifting
Thanks in Advance

Only during install you can choose this...

Got the same problem using hardware mode, Nexus-s on a E6700, 2gb ram, 8800gtx, msi "power up"-edition.. Using Windows XP SP2.
Seems it only freezes when I either use fullscreen or Tv Window if I use Tv-out and then make the normal window fit as if it was fullscreen then I can record without any problems..

What driver / original software package used, precisely?
Freezes in real hardware mode should not happen.
Merely impossible, specially on the hardware TV out...
Be as precise as possible, to get best available help.

While recording the video freezes randomly here too and audio starts to loop for a time. Then after some seconds the video continues with a fps of about 3. Some seconds later the video continues normally, sometimes with asynchronous audio, sometimes with timeshift.
When the freezing starts heavy hard disk access starts suddenly and ProgDVB CPU usage strongly decreases for a time.
The freezing appears averaged every 2 hours.
When playing back the stream it is corrupted with a recording gap of about half a second.
I'm using a Skystar 2 DVB-S PCI.
I've tried different Versions of ProgDVB and this problem appeard always.
I'm now using Dream DVB for recording and no such error has occured there ever, after recording many hours.

This may depend on the driver, or on timeshift in memory / RAM size, or on disk quota / writing rights or alike.
Even possible, your HD suffers from some trouble, or something overfills your RAM, causing swap file use for ProgDVBs buffers or alike.
Or some other weird task takes the disk, like indexing, virus scan, a virus searching for private data or sending tons of spams or alike...
CPU usage dropping looks like software decoding stopping due to nothing to decode then...
Pehaps think about a second (physical) hard disk, for ProgDVB (and other mulitmedia things) only, and with no swap file on it.
Not enough details fpr anyone, to answer more precisely right now.
