Perhaps try to record from Luxe.tv and find out, if the AR is also wrong there in, when played elsewhere or reworked in any way.
If yes, supposingly the provider is to blame, for placing wrong flags with the streams.
Compare with BBC again, same way.

bbc HD is recorded with an ar of 16:9

So the flag might be wrong but why is cyberlink's codec nhot affected? Are there different methids for injcorporating this information in a dvbs2 stream?

It would be nice of progdvb if it could override the ar setting in case of faulty codecs or transmissions.

However, a switch to toggle stream input (not screen) AR would indeed be a nice idea, specially if transmitted falsely. Though, it won't be easy to define, if that state should then continue up to the next stream flag change, or for a full event, or even permanently for a station, as this depends on the source of the problem.

There may also be a complex reason for misinterpretation of AR:
On many stations the AR changes frequently, like after ads or event changes. Quite often the AR flag switching does not exactly match the event timing (that may also depend on your computer's RTC).
Now most codecs aren't originally made for DVB but for DVD.
And on DVDs the AR would not change within a chapter. This is a possible reason for codecs, to not be able to switch within a continuing stream.

Summing up all this, it may be helpful, to reset a given state of AR each time a change happens on the stream, plus on every event change - but then allow another change to be proceeded within a time limit of e.g. ten seconds.
Now we 'just' need a universal switch control each codec understands, either to change AR or to reset the whole thing...

Won't be easy, to put this into code in a reliable way, so the results suit each and every possible cause of wrong AR, once it happens and once it stops.

AFAIK there's only one relevant flag for stream AR. But I may be wrong. Reading through all relevant ETSI standards would surely cost a whole lifetime...
