:?: I'm a neewbie using a PC as a satelite reciever (I'm using a Dreambox dm 7000S for the moment). I've just downloaded progdvd ver. 5.15.
I'm using an htpc with a terratec Cinergy s2 card with outpout to HDMI.
The transponder I'd like to watch is Sirius 2 and 3 (only found sirius 4 in the transponder list).
I have a original Viasat Card (NDS), and 2 USB cardreaders (Infinity USB and Cardman 2020).

Need help to install phoenix compatible drivers (WinXP) to my cardreaders, can anyone point me to a adress?
Is there a transponder update list so I can tune to Sirius 2 and 3 (missing TV3 and so on)?
Do I need the profesional versjon to install NDS (Viasat) softcam, and which is the best for Viasat (using acamd on my dreambox)?
Do I need the profesional versjon to distribute my incoming signals to IP over local nettwork?

I know these are many questions for a newbie, but I need help!

Regarding the satellites, please allow me to tell you, DVB applications scan by transponder lists (or a similar database, like recent ProgDVB does), that refer to angular positions.

Satellite names may change, birds may get moved to different positions occasionally.

So look at satcodx.com or lyngsat.com for positions and birds and stations on those.

Using a Phoenix interface instead of a CAM may be illegal for you. So it would be for me.
This for we can't really help you on this. Perhaps go to dvbn.happysat.org for such issues.

Streaming out to a network does not depend on ProgDVB Pro versions, instead it requires the media server plugin, that comes in a free version with each full download. The free version has some limitations, but a pro version of the media server plugin could be purchased, if required.

ok....one question please.

Please allow me to ask a question (because i am also interested for a similar solution).
I am a legal subscriber of a Greek irdeto provider (Nova) an i want to view the channels @ my media center pc .I have bought the pro edition of progdvb and since many years i use skyster2 for FTA.
Do i need to buy some kind of CAM (is it the same with the modules we use for desktop receivers ?) and use it via pci to pcmcia adaptor @ my media center pc ?
If the above won't do any good , to i have to buy another card? Which one?

Thank you very much for your time.....

It's not that easy.

The interface for the CAM is not PCMCIA, but CI (Common Interface).
Even if the slot looks similar.
There's no CI available on PC mainboard hardware.
So you would need a special expansion board, that provides CI.

Normally, a CI adaptor would be connected to a suitable DVB tuner card, like the Nexus / SS1 Premium or NovaCI. Those come with a port for it.

AFAIK a USB based CI was announced some time ago, but I've never seen one.

Perhaps contact the manufacturer of your tuner.

Anyone else around here, knowing more than I do?
If so, please interfere right now ;)
