Hi,
I own a TechnoTrend S-1500 PCI DVB-S Card and use ProgDVB to watch TV / listen to radio.
My Problem: The remote control that was with the PCI card is damaged and I need a new one.
The old remote was IR with a cable to the card. It worked good with ProgDVB (just the names of the buttons was strange in ProgDVB).
My Question: Can i buy any USB-linked remote and connect it to the PC and will ProgDVb "see" it? have i to disable the old remote device in some way?
And if not do you know a special good remote that works goodwith ProgDVB ?

thx
ChiefAlex

(sorry for bad english, im german)

As long as the original IR receiver still is OK, you can try almost any Philips TV (compatible) handset, including universal ones, set to one of the most common Philips TV codes.
The internal system control hardware of the TT concept in fact bases on Philips TV technology.
I am using universal remotes with my Nexus (TT HW rev. 2.2, ~ TT DVB-S 2200), for many years with great success. More keys, longer operating range, better mechanics...
Your device should be HW rev. 1.5, of the same base concept.

A separate USB attached remote won't address the TT hardware or ProgDVB, but Windows system, as a
Human Interface Device, i.e. keyboard emulation.
Means, even inside of ProgDVB, it would act like a keyboard. And then setting the controls means, to play around with keyboard controls, not remote.
