I just installed my Windows Professional - 64 bit and when I tried to install the ProgDVB (32 bit) it didn't work - I did this because the plug-ins that open the paid channels (WinSCS) is not working with the 64-bit version.

I re-installed the ProgDVB (64-bit) and it's detect the card and working with many crashes and channels get frozen sometimes + Plug-ins not detected as mentioned. When crashed it require a restart to work again!

I don't know if it's my personal problems or there's other who experienced the same issues.

I suggest open new sub-forum for the 64x support only as many users are switching to this architecture to gain the full benefits of big RAM. Also, Windows 7 64-bit are came pre-installed with most PCs now. Thanks!

With a Prof 7300 card I have had success using the x64 ProgDVB version 6.24 with Win 7 x64 Home Premium. The drivers are x64 beta drivers from Prof and the codecs were x64 versions too. It functioned perfectly, beyond my wildest expectations, just today.

Of course, I have not needed or used any plugins.

My earlier experience with ProgDVB versions 6.21, 6.22 (would not even setup) and 6.23 were frought with many crashes, some of which were because of codec choices. If I used a 32 bit codec with the x64 OS setup it was sure to crash. Some x86 codecs crashed the x86 OS attempts.

I have tried DVB Dream, and DVBviewer (both x86) on my 64 bit computer and neither would control the 2x1 Diseqc switch. They were compatible to a certain extent but the x64 ProgDVB was the first program on the 64 bit computer to control the switch.

On my 32 bit computer DVB Dream worked very well (cpu speed was sometimes a problem though) and likely DVBViewer would have too.

As you stated the age of 32 bit computers is gone. All new computers are 64 bit and if you do not specify otherwise the OS is too. In 1956 my first full time employment was the task of converting code from the GM Research IBM 701 computer to the new 64 bit IBM 704. Wow, it is time to migrate to 64.

Thank You!

I have not really concentrated on choosing the best codecs or finding them all but a Google search for "x64 codecs" has been my approach.

Following is a link to my website showing the video codecs in place right now but these may not be the ones I use for 4:2:2 to show. If you replace the word "Video" with "Audio" in the link it will show those for audio (case is important).

Of course, many of these are from the Win 7 OS and possibly from the Windows Media Center if you have not already installed it. The WMC is funny in that it makes a feeble attempt to use the DVB PC card but its usefulness otherwise is convenient for playing movies via HDMI to my principal TV 60 feet away.

Here is the list when the MPEG-2 catagory is opened up to reveal those available:
