Hi , I am sorry if this was asked before , but I am having difficulties setting my new HVR-2250 .

I am completely a noob , I just installed my satellite dish and brought a wire from it to the HVR-2250 . There I stopped ... Can someone guide me from here on ? I only want to recieve free channels that I usually access with my TV reciever .

What do you mean with "my TV receiver"?
Does that also use that satellite dish?
Or is it fed from a cable or terrestrial service?

What satellite position is your dish aligned for?
Who did that alignment, and how was it approved?


In fact you avoided, to provide us with any of the most important details.


But anyway, AFAIK, the HVR-2250 is NOT a satellite tuner, tunes to ATSC and cable signals only.
So, connecting it to a satellite dish directly can't work at all.
Instead you had to use a satellite tuner (or perhaps a satellite receiver, to connect it's video out to an adequate input port of the HVR).
