Hi,
I have recently changed my nvidia 6800 with a nvidia 7600GT (AGP).
System info:
P4 2.4 , m/b Assus P4800, 1G ram, VGA 7600GT(AGP) and Sky star 2
current DVB driver progdvb 5.13.04, technisat drv 4.4.1, also tryed older versions (4.80.5 etc.)
Just after the VGA upgrade, progdvb was playing for 1-2 minutes in very poor sound and video quality and the the pc just halt. I had to hardware reboot it. I have tryed to remove the card and re-install all dvb related drivers but I had the same problem.
I made a fresh windows installation. I have installed m/b drivers for the chipset and latest drivers for the nvidia ver.169.x (previous ver was 93.x). The video/audio quality still bad the olny difference after re-installing windows is that the PC does not freeze anymore.
I am using a registered version on elecard decoder. I also tried the directX 9 video renderer with all possible codec combinations.
The signal reception of Hotbird is very good (75-80%). When I say bad video quallity I mean small squares and freezes on the view window (motion is not smooth) and clicks and interruption to the sound.
Any idias/suggestion is wellcome.

I have already tried that.
There is no difference with every possible video renderer I have tried. The reason I suspect there is a conflict either on irq or i/o mem is because when the video becomes not smooth and crispy at the same time the mouse is interrupted.
At the other hand I have checked that the irq (21) assigned to SS2 does not conflict with other devices.
I had also the chance to test an identical SS2 card with the same results. So I left out the possibility of an infected card in hardware.
Finaly I have tested the latest release of progdvb (5.14) but the problem remains.

I faced the same problem in later time . the problem was conflict between Nvidia video decoder and the driver for Geforce 7950 GT ( i didn't remember number of ver. ) . In this case try to use another version of decoder ( that's solve my problem )
OS : Win XP SP2
CPU : P4 Intel 3.00 GHz "HT"
Memory : 2 GB
DVB-S : Sky Star 2 (2.6D) ( 4.4.0 )
Hotbird 13.0°E | Badr-3/4 26.0°E | Nilesat 101/102 7.0°W

I still can't get the ss2 to work properly.
I was suspecting the nvidia 7600GT causing the problem so I 've decited to hareware revove it from my system, re-install windows from scratch with an older AGP440MX. I have the same results (crappy video and audio quality) from time to time when starting progdvb, windows freeze and needs hardware reset (power button).
I have also downloaded the latest version on elecard codec (unregister trial for 40 days) but had no improvment.
As for video renderes I have tree options: "video render", "VMR7" and "VMR9". All three have the same result.
Finaly I 've downloaded from intel the latest chipset drivers (865chipset) for the motherboard.
Bu the way I have forced a cmos reset (jumper) just in case the bios messed up with irq assigments.
I would consider myself as an experienced user. Its the first time I feel I 've tried everything and I cannot find what causes this problem. If you think I 'm missing something please advise.
best regards and thanks for you suggestions,
Memoryic.

I still can't get progdvb to work.
I wonder if there is an internal procedure - debuggibg mode- that I could use for troubleshooting pusroses. Can I force the program (or card driver) to report minor or major problems (packet loss, video decryption filures etc.)

Hi guys,
After a painful two weeks spent on troubleshooting, I 've managed to get it to work. I have replaced the P4P800 Asus motherboard with a similar P4C800. All tests run fine.
I still couldn't believe this hardware problem because the system with the old m/b was very stable with all other applications and installed cards - all except Skystar2-
Thank you all for your suggestions.
