I have a couple of Nvidia Shield TV Pro's where both will always show a black screen when I switch channel until I click the arrow right. I have tried all Player engines (ProgDVB, LibVLC, ExoPlayer all have the same problem, MediaPlayer doesn't work at all (and I have no External Player installed to test).

It's really annoying to wait for a channel to buffer and then only getting audio until I pick up the remote again and click arrow right to get the video to show, does anyone have a solution?

It happens on multiple Nvidia Shield TV Pro's and I have reinstalled it on my living room Nvidia Shield from Google Play Store (I have Google's enhanced security enabled, so I can't install .apk's manually unfortunately) but the problem still persists.
My IPTV source is a dizquetv server that uses ffmpeg and h264_qsv to transcode from a Plex server. I am confident this would happen to anyone trying to stream from the same setup, so maybe you could spin up a dizquetv server with h264_qsv ffmpeg and see for yourself that only audio starts when changing channels until you click arrow right?
When I change channel in VLC it does not happen, the video just starts like it should.

The Windows versions works fine (the video actually start a few seconds before the audio starts) with the same dizquetv iptv source.

Is it depended from channel? Try Slynet source for example.

When I cold start ProgTV on Android TV the channel loads fine. When I change to channel #2 only audio starts (I have waited more than 60 seconds without the video starting, I haven't seen the point in waiting longer than 1 minute, even for testing purposes) until I click a button like arrow right. When I change back to channel #1 the same happens, only audio, no video until I interact with it. Not sure why the cold start up manages to show the video and channel hopping doesn't.

This does not happen in VLC, only in ProgTV for Android TV. In VLC the channel just starts with video and audio like expected.

I have no clue what Slynet is, but I found some channels on this github https://github.com/iptv-org/iptv to test with and most channels (that work) work fine, but some do not, for example the channel called "4FUN TV (576p) [Not 24/7]" https://stream.4fun.tv:8888/hls/4f.m3u8
This channel also starts immediately in VLC (and VLC says it's H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (h264), but in ProgTV Android TV it just appears as a black screen with audio playing until I interact with it (regardless if I open it from the list or by up/down channel hopping).

Edit: Another channel from that list where this happen is called "00s Replay".

Edit 2: Another one is called "247 Box".

Edit 3: Another one is callled "BBC Travel" (but the audio that starts here is german (sometimes british spoken on low volume underneath the German dub)

Are you sure in last version of ProgTV? This bug fixed 1-2 version ago.

Google Play says what it says and the app itself says what it claims to be, is there any possibility that they're both wrong?
I had an update from Google Play in between my first post and second post, but as of right now there's no newer version in Google Play Store on either of ny Nvidia Shields.

I used my (more travel friendly) Nvidia Shield tube for this testing since it doesn't have any ProgTV at all from earlier, and installed "progtv.beta.3.47.6.apk" from the "https://www.progdvb.com/progtva_download.html" download page (after removing my Google account so it would allow for manual .apk installation). As soon as I reach the "4FUN TV (576p) [Not 24/7]" channel (early in the list I found on github) the audio starts with a black screen (there might be a few full screen color changes from black to dark gray just barely long enough to notice, but for all intents and purposes it's a black screen no matter how long I wait). Same happens on the "00s Replay" channel. The other ones I tested earlier seem to be down right now ("Error! Server response not recognized" or "Waiting too long for signal"), and on my dizquetv iptv server as source it happens on every channel. Is there a newer version than the beta 3.47.6 I can test if you're this sure that this has been fixed already?

I don't know if this helps, but if I enable the "Save frame from previous channel" then the screen isn't just black when I change channels, it shows a frame from the previous channel instead (sometimes its not from the previous channel, but a previous previous channel probably because I changed channels too quickly for it to save anything from the actual previous channel) while the audio plays the actual channel I changed to.

OK. I am like test total same case. Do you use OpenMAX in playback options of ProgTV?
