Why video quality is poor on Vista?

I have a dual boot system (XP and Vista), FlyDVB trio PCI card Progdvb 4.84. Using cyberlink for video and fddshow for audio. There's no problem with progdvb on both systems. While on Windows XP the video quality is nearly perfect, on Vista, it's noticably poor. (watchable though). Using the same driver versions of the graphics card (Catalyst 7.4)
I wonder why and is there a way to fix this.
Could it be a display driver issue (it was same with Catalyst 7.2-7.3)?
Or is it about those Direct3D restrictons on Vista?
Anyone has an idea?
