ProgDVB crashes when scanning for channels-and not only then

I have a fresh installation of a Windows XP SP2 (just the OS and all the drivers). I am trying to use ProgDVB 4.85.1 with a Technotrend Budget S-1401 card (driver version 2.19h). My dish is fixed to Astra 19.2E - no positioner, no Diseqc, LNB is directly connected to the card. ProgDVB is configured as described in the manual (up to date transpoder file is also loaded).

When I try to scan for channels, I get some results but then ProgDVB will just crash with an error message "ProgDVB has encountered a problem and needs to close." The crash is random - it may happen in the very beginning of the scan, or in the end. If I stop scanning before the crash, I am able to import the found channels just fine. Sometimes ProgDVB also crashes when I'm trying to tune to one of the channels found.

I searched this forum and found a suggestion to install a KB896626 hotfix from Microsoft. After doing so, ProgDVB just 'disappears' most of the time even with no error messages (instead of "officially" crashing). So the solution didn't help at all.

I have a screenshot and a dump file of the crash (but the dump is quite big - some 50Mb). I can upload/send it somewhere if needed. Here are some text files from the dump directory:

Hmm, it worked!
I copied the .dll version 4.84.1 and channel scan worked just fine!
Thanks! :)

P.S. How did you know that?!
