I have not found similar error in forum
This error occurs when I finish install Progdvb and I try to select a device and...

Progdvb 5.x (with 4.x close Progdvb)

My System:

P4 3,2
xp sp2

Cards:

Skystar HD
Hauppauge dvb-t Nova TD
(both with BDA drivers)

ProgDVB used to work perfectly fine for me.

I formatted my PC & installed every thing from scratch.
(used same versions of ProgDVB 5.x & 4.x) & now am getting the same error as above.

After doing some search on the internet I found THIS.

In programs consisting entirely of verifiable managed code, all references are either valid or null, and access violations are impossible. An AccessViolationException occurs only when verifiable managed code interacts with unmanaged code or with unsafe managed code.

Hope this might be of some use to the developer to narrow the search for the cause.

After some more search ....

I found THIS for the above problem.
The page will guide you to THIS page where you need to download KB923028.

Downloaded & installed over Microsoft .NET v2.

The 1st test after that the problem persisted !
I uninstalled Microsoft .NET v2 , restarted PC , installed Microsoft .NET v2 & installed KB923028.
Started with a fresh install of ProgDVB & .....vuala .... problem gone !!

It worked for me !

BUT .... now .... instead .... am getting an error message on exit with msdvbnp.ax, which (I hope) is easily fixed as (I think) it's DirectX & codec related.
(I had the same error before but I forgot how I fixed it). ... but am working on it.

Anyway .... I hope this would help anyone with the same error.

To solve msdvbnp.ax error :

msdvbnp.ax is a directX component.
The latest directX contains an older version of msdvbnp.ax (which is better than the existing new version) but it fails to replace the existing new version because of the file date (I guess Microsoft needs to do some thinking regarding thier update methods).

The older version works better than the new buggy version.

So .... what you need to do is:
-Extract latest DirectX to a local folder.
-Extract BDAXP.cab to a folder.
-Go to safe mode & copy msdvbnp.ax (extracted from BDAXP.cab) & replace the existing one in (C:\WINDOWS\system32) & (C:\WINDOWS\system32\ReinstallBackups\0004\DriverFiles\i386).
-Restart PC & it should be working fine now.

Please let people know exact DirectX and file versions for both.

Replace --> MSDvbNP.ax .. dated --> 04/August/2004 .... size=55.5 KB
with ------> MSDvbNP.ax .. dated --> 09/July/2004 .... size=51.0 KB

The one dated 09/July/2004 (the working version) is extracted from BDAXP.cab (<-- this is for XP!!).
BDAXP.cab extracted Frorm directx_jun2007_redist.exe .


In other words ..... you should say YES to the following confirmation :

Note if you delete the version in system32\dllcache and then copy the "new" version into system32 and dllcache very quickly you do not need to be in safe mode.
