It should be possible to at least go back few minutes(of 200MB buffer), stop current rec. and start rec. to new file from that position.

Or even seekbar could show entire current file(beyond live RAM buffer)

You can try disable Sync record in File->Timeshift status
But of course ProgDVB request some video editor..
