Annoying beeping while watching TV channel.

Arrrrrrggghhhhhh

ProgDVB is driving me nuts.

When I run it I get [Run DBA graph error]
then
[ Device not started BDA Pinnacle RoyalTS Tuner]
and then when I am watching a TV programme I get a kind of beeping sound at regular intervals. That is intolerable and I have to close ProgDVB as it is so annoying. I like the ProgDVB interface, I love having the signal strength and quality displayed in the window status bar and selecting the tuner (Pinnacle dual tuner card) is very nice. I have not had a chance to really try the program because of the annoying beeping sound I get every time I run it. I have tried ProgDVB before and got the same problem when using a different windows install and different TV tuner.

Why is this happening and how do I solve it?

ProgDVB 4.85.1[1.35]

Try to disable subtitles.

Yes. It is bug in subtitles. Some debug code not removed :-(

Thanks, I did not think I had subtitles enabled. The icon is not shown enabled anyway. But selecting it from the menu has seemed to stop it at last :D

Well it is back so that did not work. Plonk, plonk plonking away almost continuously.

It is still showing the error messages when I start ProgDVB.

This plonking sound (more accurate description than beeping) is driving me nuts.

Still happening. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to get it working properly or on how to work out what is causing it?

To get closer to the source, try to remove the default subs page from a couple of channels' properties.
For unknown reasons, some stations are registering bad numbers there at scan time.

If this still won't help, disable or even remove the ETSI subtitle module.

Thanks for sending that to me. I tried it but had some problems with the channels. I did have some similar problems with a previous version but did manage to get it tuned in but the new version is being more problematic. I will test a bit more before reporting.

I thought so, just been trying it again. Did an uninstall and re-install. Deleting everything from the ProgDVB directory in between the uninstall and re-install to make sure there was nothing influencing it.

My local DVB-T transmitter is Sutton Coldfield - Midlands and Eastern England. Which I selected on install. Scanning for channels only finds channels on one of the six multiplexes. It only finds the channels on multiplex D Channel 55 or 746000KHz.

Sutton Coldfield frequencies:
Multiplex 1 Channel 41
634166KHz
Multiplex 2 Channel 44
658166KHz
Multiplex A Channel 47
682166KHz
Multiplex B Channel 51
714166KHz
Multiplex C Channel 52
722166KHz
Multiplex D Channel 55
746000KHz

The scanning only seems to pick up the channels on the xxx000KHz ones and ignores the xxx166KHz channels. I have experienced a similar problem with the supplied Pinnacle Media Centre Pro software, it only finds the channels on the last multiplex 746000KHz. Pinnacle TV Centre Pro finds all the channels on the 6 Multiplexes. This might be something to do with the Pinnacle drivers as someone did mention there was a problem with this but I am not certain whether it is the driver that ProgDVB gets the frequencies from or whether ProgDVB gets the frequencies from somewhere else.

This new version only shows one of the two Tuners on my Pinnacle DVB-T card, (BDA) Pinnacle RoyalTS Tuner #1, it does not show the first tuner which is called (BDA) Pinnacle RoyalTS Tuner tab on the channels list like it did for version 4.87.6 which I had install previously. It does show both tuners in the device list and both are enabled.

Using Scan transponder and selecting the first tuner, changing the frequency from 634000 to 634166 can scan for channels, these are put onto the All Channels tab and not onto a tab for the specified Tuner. The tuner does not have a tab like it did in 4.87.6. On 4.87.6 I am sure there were 3 tabs, All channels, (BDA) Pinnacle RoyalTS Tuner and (BDA) Pinnacle RoyalTS Tuner #1.

The All channels tabs seems to show the channels for the First Tuner
Image
Only showing the second Tuner, Tuner #1 and that has very few channels, only one Multiplex.
Image
Here I have changed the default frequency 634000KHz to 634166KHz which it is meant to be. Locked and scanned.
Image
Here is the default frequency that ProgDVB shows when the first Multiplex(C41) is selected, it is incorrect, it should be 634166KHz.

Where is ProgDVB getting these frequencies from? Is there a reason for not having the two Tuner tabs on this version?

I nearly forgot to mention, the beeping, plonking sound has stopped. :D

Normally, ProgDVB uses transponder lists for scanning.

Don't have a DVB-T BDA device running here ATM, so this is just theory.

There are transponderlist included with ProgDVB, even for terrestrial.
Should normally be selected under LNB/DiSEqC settings.

You should as well be able, to customize one, by editing the frequencies for your needs.

p.s. channel lists have properties, check them.

Now I cannot even start ProgDVB, it crashes every time I start it with the same errors I had with the last version but this time it will not run at all. Run BDA graph error and cannot start RoyalTS Tuner.

Looks like an uninstall again.

Now a new one

After I killed ProgDVB which was still in the tray when I got the errors above. Now I first get this error followed by the errors above.

ProgDVB has totally died on me now. It will not run at all. A re-install fixes it for one brief run and then it will not run again.
