new installation: 4_88_9 won't scan, 5_12_9 won't start

I've used Prog in the past, but haven't for more than a year since I got a new motherboard. Now I can't get Prog to work. My 4_88_9 installation picked up only a few channels when I scanned 110 and 119 (2400 and 2510 in the transponder ini files). I tried rescanning, scanning individual transponders, then deleting all channels and scanning again. Now I don't get a single channel, and the level indicator stays low (but not zero) while the quality indicator stays zero. As far as I know, my diseqc is in the 1.0-2.0 type, though I did try the other settings. My card starts without error and it looks correct from the device menu. I have two Nexus-s's (2.3) and I've tried starting and scanning both. I've rebooted before retrying some of these operations, but still scanning doesn't give a single channel. These same Nexuses work with MT just fine, so I know my system is functional.

So I tried installing 5_12_9, but every time I launch it, it quits with the error "The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000135)."

Any suggestions how to troubleshoot either version 4 or 5?

What last good version for you?

"The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000135)."
You not have net framework on PC.

OK, I see I had my scan range set incorrectly. 4_88_9 is now scanning.

Thanks for the info about version 5. I looked around the web site and documentation and could not tell what was different about version 5, so I didn't know about it needing .NET framework. Is there someplace where the version 5 features are documented?

Requirement for .NET is mentioned right on top of the 5.x download page.
This is the most important aspect of it.
