Hi everyone,

This is my first post here on the forum, even though I have been visiting for more than 8 months......

I am making a request that I know has been made on this forum at least 3 times in the past :

BDA drivers for the DM20S USB boxes (newmi, lightwave,.....etc)

I respectfully ask the board admins, and Prog, why (after repeated requests) no drivers have been issued for this family of receivers ?

Is the problem a technical one ?

If the ProgDVB program will NEVER support this family, please let us know....

Thank you in advance.............

Sorry, but we are not making any hardware drivers at all.
That's manufacturer's business.

But ProgDVB uses modules / device files to contact existing drivers.
And a BDA device file exists, that works well with a wide variety of BDA controlled tuners. In most cases, the original software has to be installed and adjusted properly, to allow 3rd party software to work.

In fact, BDA is meant to be a universal driver model, that provides features and behaviour, which are defined by Microsoft (only). And no specific tricks should be necessary, by definition...

Though, in the real world, nobody strictly follows all the rules and conditions.
Beneath other aspects, BDA specifications are missing DiSEqC support. This for, the hardware manufacturers are using some proprietary tricks, to add missing or special functions. That tricks normally aren't published. And you can't force manufacturers to give away details, specially as they will have follow some kind of an NDA wit M$..
.
That's the main reason for BDA trouble these days, and for no SDKs being available for most modern devices...

You can try newmi.device in ProgDVB
