problem playing recorded programs

Sorry if this issue has already been discussed but I found no solution with the search function.

Problem is that I can watch programs, quality seems perfect and when I record a program an .mpg file is created that looks the right size. But it will not play, neither in ProgDVB nor any other player that I have. All I see is a black screen.

When I make records with other TV Card software that also just copies the stream to a file location the recordings play fine. So it doesn't seem to be neither the programs nor the card nor the video playing software but some mistake I make with ProgDVB.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have additional information:

VirtualDub says "invalid pack at position 3, marker bit not set, possibly MPEG-2 stream" when I try to open the file.

Now I do hope it's an MPEG-2 file as that is what I have chosen in option but why does not even ProgDVB itself recognize the file?

I had a same problem before .

I use MPC to play my record files but black and wrong playback time .

I solved the problem like this :

Run MPC == > options == > internal filters == > check DTS/AC3 , MPEG PS/TS/PVA ( under source filters ) . that it :D

Thanks Frozen,

This solved my playback problem, and in the meantime I also found out that I can use the files from ProgDVB as input to Auto Gordian Knot and encode them as Xvid avi files.

But it still puzzles me why ProgDVB cannot play the files saved by itself.

May also depend on the version of ProgDVB and / or ActiveMovie, Codec used there, renderer and more.
AFAIK ProgDVB uses system assistance, but other players may have their own specific settings, codecs and alike, like known from MPC and VLC.

As usual, details rule...
