Hi all,
i'm a new user of this forum and i would like to clarify with you guys about the scrambling of RAI channels on Hotbird 13E. If i perform a channel search with ProgDVb 4 i get alway RAI1,2 and 3 scrambled. If i perform the same search with ProgDVB 5 i get the channels in clear. I had also a look to DVB/MPEG tables and RAI channels have any CA descriptor in the ES Audio and Video when progDVB 4 says they are scrambled. Anyone knows how the scrambling on thise channel worksa and why different versions of ProgDVB works different?

Thanks,
Naples79

RAI channels are only scrambled temporarily, for some events.

The adequate flag on the program tables (which is then scanned into the channel list) does not really mean anything, as it may be false set as crypted on a free station, or false as FTA e.g. on many PPV channels.
BTW, "How to Irritate People" - John Cleese, major python... 8)

The only way to really find out is, to look into channel properties, if there are any ElectronicalControlMessages to be found, along with EMM / CA system / provider IDs. If so, an encryption system is active (for each entry), though it may still be on free view mode right now.
