I have a couple of ways of getting the cable signal into the PC.
1. external USB 2.0 tuner (Sasem OnAir HTDV box)
2. pci card (Fusion HDTV 5 Gold).

Which is the better option for Progdvb?
With the Sasem tuner and it's own software, I can see all the analog and digital channels. However, some of the digital channels say "scrambled stream" and I only get black video and no audio on them.
I subscribe to everything this cable company has to offer, including all the movie channels. When I signed up with them, they said that one digital PVR was included and I told them I want to use an htpc to get cable in the 2nd room -- they installed cable lines to both rooms.
So, how do I get the PC to show me the "scrambled streams?"

Does the PCI one (also) have a Common Interface (CI)?
If so, you are in need of a CAM, that had to be compatible to the crypt system used, and would have to put your subscriber card (or a second one) into it.
That's the only legal way.

Basically, the decrypting unit of your USB box does not do anything to the cable system signals on the coax. It just decrypts for the electronics inside of the box and the audio / video signals that (are allowed to) leave it, which way ever. Each tuner needs it's own decrypting, even if both were accessed by the same software at the same time, as the data (control words) actually used to decrypt are transported from CAM through CI to a small hardware CSA unit inside of the tuner, in a way that's also crypted individually. Those signals won't work on a second interface and tuner.

Gaining access to and reusing plain control words would be illegal.
Same goes for assisting on this.

This is not illegal here. I told the cable company what I wanted and they installed the hardware lines but could be no help in using the HTPC to get any of their signal. I already pay for everything they offer but am trying to save from renting one of their useless unit cable boxes with it's teeny little hard drive, as well as crashing at least once per day. That is the Scientific Atlanta 8300HDC, They know I'm trying but are clueless because I asked them for the help.
Again, I'm paying for everything already and they know full well what I'm trying to do.
