subitles, EPG OSD info and remote control

hi,
first of all excuse my bad English, I hope to succeed in explaining me
I have progdvb professional version 6.10 and I use a neuxs hauppage sky1 card in softmode
first problem: the subtitles
On some channels I correctly see the subtitles but in other channels I see stranges symbols (like PPPPPP etc)
between a break and the other, the subtitles work good but among the correct sentences the symbols appear.
Is there a way to change the fonts of the subtitles? I have looked for in options / OSD & parental controls
but I don't find anything, even in the choice of the skins.
according to problem OSD EPG: when change the channels I correctly see the information on the actual transmission
the duration and the following transmission,
there is the possibility to see the description of the program that I am looking in
OSD mode? the EPG OSD grid brings the description in a small window in low
but I cannot move among the channels using the remote control.
I have tried to install a module called softwer but it is too much difficult to configure.
third problem: is it possible to launch with remote control progdvb? Perhaps this is possibile with the software
winlirc? I have also tried to install Girder but I don't succeed
to make to recognize my remote control hauppauge.
thanks to everybody

Depending on your Windows version, you may have to enable turkish charset for the system, or add it to the Internet Explorer.
For compatibility reasons, Europe wide, this charset has been found to be the most flexible one.
However, you should have told people, what stations you are having trouble with, on what satellite position and transponder.

A window won't be part of the OSD. Don't mix things up, please. OnScreenDisplay means, things get inserted to the video screen.

Remote control keys are configured as such, in "Settings" --> "Controls".

No, as the original remote can only work if the device is started already.

Girder / LiRC solutions don't work with the original IR receiver, they require a special one on a COM port.
However, as I'm not using Pro versions, that's all I can tell here.

First of all, thanks for the help, now I understand that I can not use my nexus-s remote control without a special one on a COM port.
I have a question with the subtitles:
well, I'm italian I watch german, french and spanish channels, ich kann ein bisschen Deutsch (du bist aus Deutschland, nicht wahr?

).
When I watch the subitles on ZDF 16:9 astra channel it's all ok, they working good, I saw in the channel property of ZDF that there is not the subtitle page but a PID number and in the property there is ETS 300745 checked. I think that this number it's the following of the PID teletext value, i.e. teletext PID number 150, subtitle PID 151.
That was already stored in ZDF at the first scanned transporder.
Well if I go to other channel (i.e. WDR or Arte) and I add the subtitle teletext page (not ets 300743) then I have problems with stranges characters between the sentences and the fonts are not fine as in ETS mode.
I have tried to insert the next PID teletext number of the channels but the subtitles are not displayed.
So where I can find the correct subtitles PID number of the channels to set it in ETS 300743 mode?
thank you again and sorry the mistakes.

You can, for sure. But only if a DVB application is running the device...
A LiRC remote receiver would instead make the remote control handset signals available for the whole system, as long as Windows is up and running. Behavior would then be similar to a second (programmable) keyboard.

On most stations over here, ETS style subs are NOT available, and in any case they are handled completely different, by a different part of ProgDVB. TXT based subs come over the TXT module, and that's the one needing using the turkish charset. ZDF also provides TXT subs.
TXT subs also use the TXT font (selected), not just the charset. Reason is, TXT is an ancient technology from analog days, that also allowed some very basic graphic elements, that are still used there on these days. And that's one reason, why TXT, like hardware OSD, won't (really) use true type fonts, but only bitmap (compatible) fonts.

Hi
I've tried to change the font dimensions of subtitles with
skin editor but nothing to do.
I've tried to change values in progdvb.ini in line
LanguageSubtitleItemEditForm=
but nothing to do.
Can someone show me step by step where I can change the font's
dimensions?
Another thing: the problem with stranges symbols between correct
senteces appears only with some german channels, with TV5 europe
french the subtitles are good, it's strange.
last question: now EPG OSD it works I can move with remote control
in the windows but I see always the EPG OSD list, how can I
use the EPG OSD grid? I've unflagged oN OSD settings
EPG list but nothing to do
thank you

Hi,
I've solved the problem with subtitle fonts with the installation of standard edition of progdvb, there is a button to change the font.
Now I've only the problem of strange characters between sentences
here the image of what I mean
http://rapidshare.de/files/48995320/1.jpg.html
normal subtitle same channel
http://rapidshare.de/files/48995325/2.jpg.html
And the thing about EPG OSD grid, where I can find it? on OSD I see only EPG list.
thank you very much[/img]

Sorry to have to say, but that bad characters don't come from the charset (alone), as there are no German words, that carry such a lot of identical letters.
There must be another reason, but I don't have any idea...
Never seen this happen here. And I've used that channel more than once here.

ok, I've solved with the installation of a plugin subtitle of cenas, it works very good, I think there's a problem with TText module of progdvb and the pages of subtitles.
Last questions: there is an OSD info about the program I'm watching? i.e. brief description?
EPG OSD grid, where I can find it? on OSD I see only EPG list.

I've tried to install relictepg on progdvb 6.30
I have unflagged
EPG OSD grid and list on progdvb.
If I launch relict from progdvb there is an runtime error 2017 at 06ade056, if
I run relict epg from the folder of progdvb it works.
How can I solve it? How can I remove the EPG module of progdvb?
thank you

RelictEPG was made for pretty early versions of ProgDVB, and it has not been updated for a long time. It is NOT recommended for modern versions of ProgDVB.
EPG and TXT are not modules anymore, but services inside of ProgDVB.
