Geniatech HD star dvb-s2 usb minisatbox problems

I have a Geniatech HD star dvb-s2 usb minisatbox which comes with its own version of progdvb on the accompanying installation cd.
I am having problems trying to get it to run on both windows xp pro sp3 32bit and also windows 7 64bit.

With the Geniatech version of ProgDVB (which actually launches the ProgDVBNet window) and using the BDA driver I get readings of 93% level and 100% quality shown, but it will not pick up any stations on Astra 19.2E to which the dish is pointing (verified on my separate satellite box).

I have tried the Geniatech DVBS driver (both the one on the CD and the updated one on the website) but get zero readings using these at the moment.

I have tried using the latest version of ProgDVB 6.34.02 and get the same result with this.

What do I need to do to get it going please?
Thanks
James

You must use BDA.device

Am I not already doing that by clicking Settings, Device list then enabling the BDA option, which then gives a green symbol to the left of {BDA}?

This gives me readings of 93% level and 100% quality. BUT no channels can be found on a scan.

What do I need to do please?

Thanks
James

Perhaps locate the device file used in the Geniatech version and transfer it to the other version of ProgDVB. N.b., if the original software is a 32 bit version, it's device file is supposed to only suit other 32 bit versions (if any).

Also possible, you may have to adjust device settings, to make the BDA device work with your tuner hardware.

Hi, the 1st installation from the enclosed CD went OK on the WXP SP3 partition. Then I installed ProgdvbPro and the driver I DLed from the Mygica website and after a restart I got the same problem as you, i.e. 93% on all 3 satellites, no channels found during the scan and no image nor sound.

After deleting all programmes and drivers related with the HD Star and Progdvb, I DLed the trial version of Revo Uninstaller and used it to reinstall the driver from the website and ProgdvbPro. Then I used Revo's uninstall option to uninstall them.

After a reboot I again used Revo to install bioth the driver and Progdvb from the CD and, guess what, it works now.

I repeated the same method on the W7Ultimate x64 partition and it worked too!

The strange thing is that scanning Astra1 results in channels from Hotbird. And the Video driver that is working best is VRM-7. VRM-9 and the enhanced renderer deliver a wrong colour image.

Hope this method will work for you too!
