Advice please on scanning and transponder lists

Hello,
I'm trying the latest ProgDVB (professional paid-for version) after not using it for a while.
I have a couple of questions; they are loosely related. One of them includes an old issue.
1) I have gone into Settings, TV Sources, and edited/added/deleted transponders for my satellites.
In which specific situations is that transponder list used?
2) I have gone into Channel List, Channel Search, and tried searching either All or individual satellites. However, the scan progress suggests that new transponders are being found. I don't want this to happen because I know any newly found transponders are likely to be incorrectly scanned or be unused frequencies.
Is it still impossible to scan satellites without a 'network search' being applied?
Thank you,
Lee

Hello Prog,
Merry Christmas, if you enjoy this time of year. I personally ignore the whole period, but I know many people enjoy it.
1. In scanner.
Do you mean when
only scanning an individual transponder in Channel List, Scan Transponder?
ie,
not when scanning a whole satellite or All?
Why Network scanner is BAD?
Because it sometimes scans in incorrect transponder details or scans in transponders that I don't need or want.
I don't know if the incorrect scanning is due to poor broadcaster NIT, the ProgDVB scanner, my card, or a mixture of all three.

But why? Main aim of scanner is found all possible channels. You can remove some channels after.

Hello again Prog,
I can't really answer you any more clearly than I did above.
The ProgDVB usage of enforced network scanning is a hinderance for me, not an aid.
I would still appreciate a full and descriptive answer to question 1), whether from you or somebody else knowledgeable.
Thank you,
Lee

ok, so am I understanding the following 2 points correctly? :
1) 'Channel List' > 'Channel Search' > 'All' or individual satellites
=
uses all.list and always uses network scanning.
2) 'Channel List' > 'Scan Transponder'
=
uses the transponder list which is found via 'Settings' > 'TV Sources' and does not use network scanning.
Have I got those correct?
Thanks again,
Lee

Yes, but I am still not understand you problem. Scan must found maximum channels and better 500 transponders in place 100 then skin 10 channels.

" transponder list".- it does not exist. This is a part of all.list. Of course, While scanning Transponder singly network scanning not working

Thanks for these further replies. I appreciate that English is probably not you guys' preferred language, making conversations such as this somewhat difficult.
Prog, the problem for me, as I tried to explain, is that the network scanning cannot be trusted. It sometimes scans in wrong transponder details. I have to manually check all the transponders and correct some. If I relied on network scanning I would be missing quite a lot of available channels.
V.Zhukoff, I don't think you are correct. It sounds like Prog also confimed my understanding.
If you have manually edited your transponders via TV Sources, you will see some other lists as well as all.list in ProgDVB/Transponders.
I don't think our discussion here will reach agreement, but here are my 2 suggestions:
1)
Only have one list/base of transponders for each satellite. Any scanning or manual editing should change that one list/base.
2)
Give an option to disable network scanning.
For now, I will have to return to a different DVB viewer which suits my needs.
Thanks,
Lee

"If I relied on network scanning I would be missing quite a lot of available channels."
Why? Network can _ONLY ADD_ new channels. You not lost no one channel with this options.

As I said, it sometimes scans in wrong transponder details. ie if I didn't check and notice that, I would be missing channels.
Obviously as only a user and not a DVB expert I do not know the specific reason for this problem. It could be a mixture of my card, broadcast NIT or ProgDVB.
I hope that finally clarifies the confusion,

Many reason for missing channels. Bad signal, not correct LNB settings, small delay in scanner settings,... but not NIT.

Well, I cannot trust it. Also, the developers of a rival DVB viewer do not encourage relying on network scanning, for the reasons I've described.
In a day or so, I may do a couple of scanning tests with ProgDVB and post any examples I find of scanning issues. If I do, I don't expect to find many issues, and it may vary between satellites, but I expect to find some which appear to be network scan related.
Of course, it might be just me ... anybody else ...?
