I use version 4.26.4 mostly as it was fine but I had not used it in about a month. Now when running it I cannot see the video but the audio if fine. If I record the program then all if fine. This leads me to believe that it is a codec problem.

I play many types of video files and may have re installed the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.62 in the last month (though I think I had it before also) http://tinyurl.com/53vko

so I do not know now how to make ProgDVB to work properly.

I tried DVB Dream and it shows video but it has a separate problem.

Also - I live in Moscow Russia so use Hotbird 1-5 - I used to get CNBC dine but they moved transponders and do not know how to get them. I know I could get a technical person here to set it up but it is not convenient.

Sorry, I don't find any FTA version of CNBC on Hotbird.

We don't talk any software decoding issues here, but perhaps you can get hold of a legal cyfra+ license card, for viacess1 (or ~2 or seca2).

However, such provider specific issues belong to places like DVBN, not here.

Keep in mind, watching PayTV without a valid subscription is illegal.
Prog himself is a Russian, and it's his decision, we're staying strictly legal over here. and reduce activities to ProgDVB support alone, nothing but that...

And you could have looked for frequencies and alike at satcodx.com on your own, surely...



Regarding your codec issue, here and on the old forums there's a lot to read.
And of course you could already have posted a few more important details, like codecs you tried in ProgDVB, eventually error messages and alike.

And you might already have compared codec relevant details with DD...


We surely can't come around, to fix at your place, so we urgently need your cooperation and all relevant details, to possibly be able to assist...

Before I posted I did a search of codec and read a lot but found nothing that said where to find or install. I then guess it may be Settings.Audi & Video>Direct Show as the manual does not mention how to install codec or where to find them in the program. Anyway there was only under TV Chanel the name Elecard.

I had installed the new program version 4.80.5 and it would not run. Today I got it to run and found in that place MainConcept (maybe a codec? )

Anyway now the video does show so perhaps that was the problem.

As for finding CNBC I will call a guy here who says it is available still and maybe my dish can also use the proper salellite.

If you want to install or uninstall a codec and by this make it available for the system and ProgDVB as well, first you got to have it available.
ProgDVB comes with a limited demo of elecard, f.e.
PowerDVD brings it's own, a full version of Nero may bring another.
DirectShow codecs come as .ax files
Also the original CD software package should come with codecs.
Download versions usually don't.

A prepared install / uninstall routine comes with ProgDVB, as a (un)install.bat
Edit it to your needs...

You can only use, what's existing and installed.

Use Windows Explorer (and it's search function), look through the file structure of ProgDVB, then of Windows itself and eventually your other MPEG2 compatible applications.
Most MPEG2 codecs aren't for free, so usually not included in freeware.

After all was working again I did a channel scan then found I did not actually have the latest prog so installed 4.80.5 in a seperat directory. Was fooling aroudn but did noto change codec (if that is what is under Audi-Video) Direct-x show - it is still MainConcepts. I have installed on my system tons of codecs as i have a ton of films and they have a wide variety. I have no idea though the file extension of a codec.

So again now I have no video but can record it - I should have stopped when I got it working.

You told, redordings do play fine.

A multitude of codecs can irritate windows badly, so you should try not to add any more.

(Locate and) use mplayer2.exe (WMP 6.4) to play one of your DVB recordings.
Pause after some seconds, enter file properties and take a good look into details, to find out, what codec are used there.

Try those in ProgDVB, too.
If not listed, locate that codecs, you can copy them into the Filters subfolder.
Also look after codec versions, possibly important.

You may move unused codecs and stuff away from the ProgDVB subfolder to a different folder, to avoid conflicts.

Try all available renderers.

That's all from me here now, as I never use software decoding for DVB on my old machine.

Media player uses Elecard MPEG-2 Video Decoder to play back the files recorded and that is what is selected in Default Graphs
