stupid behaviour after starting without device

I use USB-DVB-Device with WinXP. As I don't have too many USB connectors, I disconnect device when not using. So it happens that I start ProgDVB-Program without device. But what then happens is really sucking!

I get message that the formerly installed device (here HVR-930C DVB-C Tuner) is not started.

There are 2 possiblities now:
1 - plug the device in for watching TV now
2 - no TV requested at that moment and quit ProgDVB

1. when plugging the device in, the TV-Sources-Windows appears. In that window, the Device is in the uppermost line separated (active devices) with a red cross; clickable button on right side is only "disable". Doubleclick on that line puts it down to the disabled devices. I then can select it again and I mandatorily have to manually reselect the mulitplexes. Then ProgDVB starts again and has TV.

2. when not plugging the device in, but just clicking OK, again the TV-Source window appears with HVR-930C in uppermost separated line with red cross on left side; clickable button is only "disable". I click "cancel" (to not change the device configuration), ProgDVB starts and tells me "no channel". I quit and plug the device in. Then I restart ProgDVB again. It starts directly (without TV-Source-Window) and tells "no channel". I have to go to TV-Sources, manually activate the device, mandatorily manually select multiplexes, and then click OK to run ProgDVB - but it does not tell anything, but tv-screen keeps black (no "no channel" message). I then have to quit again, and only after restart, TV is back ...

Sorry, but that behaviour is really sucking!

I would expect following behaviour:

When starting ProgDVB with preconfigured device not plugged, there should be message window with following:
"device not plugged: what do you wanna do?"
a) quit for the moment and do not change device configuration (so that when you start program again AFTER having plugged the device in, ProgDVB does start as normal as you would not have started with unplugged device)
b) wait at that moment for pluging the preconfigured device and then tell the program to check again device, and program should recognize that formerly pregonfigured device is now plugged and directly starts normal
c) go to TV-Source-Window to manually install other device

Please, please improve behavour when starting program without having preconfigured device connected, thanks!

Very emotionally... But ProgDVB hard linked for devices because support more one device in same time + support of changing device. For example you can change DVB-T device without lost of channel list.

so far: OK - but ... !!!

support for more than one device without losing channel list is one thing - but this should not collide with "keeping the device configuration in case ProgDVB is started without preconfigured device plugged". As proposed: in case you do not have the device plugged and then start ProgDVB, there should be a possibility NOT to lose device configuration. It is really sucking to need to "deep reconfigure" (set multiplex etc.) the device every time. There should be a "Question-Field" as proposed with the three options:
1) plug device in, when done, click to check again and directly go to ProgDVB
2) open Device-List (TV-Source) window for changing/installing Device
3) do not touch device and directly quit without touching anything in the device list (so that when you start next time with device again plugged, it will be normal start).
This should not collide with (as you say) "hard linked for devices".
- At start, check if previously installed device is plugged.
-- if yes: normal start
-- if no: question-field should intervene and intercept configuration change

Another thing to improve could be not to "force reset" the device-configuration when it is un- (and re)plugged. Better would be to keep the device-configuration and introduce a "reset multiplexes"-button or "set device to default values" etc. that you can click in case you do not want to keep the previously used multiplexes with that specific device type. So that it would not always be necessary to manually select multiplexes again when you replug a formerly used device ...

I try change logic for this situation. But it is not fast.
