I record video using mpg2 option but there is no way I can set a recording bitrate.Recorded videos are taking to much space on my HD.
How can I do it?
I have already tried to set it using Elecard SDK to adjust Encoder but everytime i record a video using progdvb settings change to 6000 bitrate.
It looks like Progdvb has its own default settings for Encoder.
If I am right how can I change these settings?

no way to do that...you can only record as it comes from the sky...as in other dvb-programms...

What are you really talking about?
Do you record TV (like we all do it), or do you use a video in port of a suitable DVB card?

TV recordings are made by just writing the streams into a container file on disk. No changes made to the streams this way, at all.
DVB software does not use any codec encoder functions, uses it as software decoder for PC screen picture only.

Ever thought about getting a(nother) big modern harddisk?
Does not cost a fortune, to add some 250GB or alike.

I'm using a really old machine (mainly), in my living room, which means, silent and cool, but limited to just one EIDE per controller port, each limited to 120GB. So I've put two 120GB in there. No free PCI slot for extra controllers...
So I've added another 250GB HD recently, externally over a USB2 box.
Another big external one will follow soon, HDD player case ordered on friday.
And I've got a second PC, on which I can access (big parts of) another half TB now, by LAN.

HD space is getting cheaper every day...
And I'm not really far from being called as poor man...

This for I won't even think about transcoding, requiring a brutal lot of calculation power and / or time, just for saving a bit of space, and in any case reducing quality more or less.
