I really like ProgDVB, but at the same time I really hate it. I've been trying it out for several versions, to see if it's better than Windows Media Centre (WMC), and in so many ways it is, but at the same time, it can be a lot worse. I use ProgDVB/WMC exclusively to watch broadcast TV on my PC and that's all that I want it to do. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium x64.

Every time I manage to solve an issue with one version of ProgDVB, and a new one comes out, another issue crops up. I recently downloaded the latest free version 6.94.6 (I am happy to pay for the program, but not until I know it's going to work and work consistently), and managed to solve a number of issues, especially sound with some TV channels, but then other problems cropped up.

The latest version now automatically starts on Windows startup and it can't be disabled, but what is worse, I get an intermittent problem where on opening ProgDVB, all I get is a blank screen when the program opens. If I try to open WMC, I get a message saying that the tuner is in use by another program and all I can then do is restart Windows and try again. On restart WMC will work and so might ProgDVB, but then it can just as easily fail when I try and open it once again.

ProgDVB invariably doesn't start to work again until I reinstall it and then it may work for a few days, or not. I've now completely removed it and reluctantly have to use WMC. I've searched as much as I can for solutions, but I can't find anything that discusses what I'm experiencing. I really want to dump WMC, but I can't do it at the moment.

You can disable autostart of ProgLauncher in context menu of in Settings.

What more problem you have? Logs?

The biggest issue I have is that the latest version of ProgDVB often doesn't work. It starts, but nothing happens, that is, where normally you would see the program displaying, there's just a black screen. It's like it thinks it's working, but nothing is actually happening. I can only get ProgDVB (and WMC) to work by restarting the PC. No error logs appear to be generated.

I'm not sure what's actually going on and that's the best way that I can describe the problems that I'm encountering. I've currently uninstalled ProgDVB, as when it fails, it also affects WMC.

You can enable log in Settings->Options->Debug before that.
