Prog DVB Pro with 4.2.2

Hi,

Please forgive me if I have posted in wrong section of the forum as I am new here. I am not new to the satellite hobby though.

Recently I have been testing Prog DVB as I wanted to be able to watch 4.2.2 feeds. I noticed Prog DVB would handle 4.2.2 but not HD feeds, for this I was adviced to move to the Pro version. So I downloaded Pro version. After some crashes I finally got it to start and display normal TV channel. I also managed to get it to work with 4.2.2 feeds. BUT.. I did not get it to work with HD feeds (program worked with normal HD channel though). Am I doing something wrong or do I need specific codec to be able to watch HD feeds in 4.2.2? Please advice.

I get signal but no quality when I type in the settings for the HD feed. I have also verified the feed was actually there with a normal satellite receiver.

Thanks in advance! :D

Follow-up to my own post: I have now tried to watch a HDTV feed in 4.2.0 and it won't be displayed either in the Prog DVB Pro. Tried different codecs, toggled pilot tone on and off, no change. Got signal as usual but no quality. Picture is flawless on a normal HDTV receiver so the signal is definitely there. Would appreciate if anybody could shed a light on this problem. Symbolerate of the feed is 21600 if that has anything to do with it (all bandwith is dedicated to this frequency only, it is not shared with a dozen other channels).

Please post full details on that / an example feed.
Include FEC, eventually DVB-S2 or TurboFEC mode.
Also try to record and watch if the file size grows.

The subject may be pretty complex, and the reason for failure may be hidden behind each and every tiny little technical aspect...

Thank you for your reply. These are the feeds I tried yesterday:

Satellite: Thor 1W
Frequency: 11092
Polarisation: Vertical
FEC: 3/4
Symbole rate: 6111
Type: 4:2:2 non-HD

Satellite: Eutelsat 10E
Frequency: 11015
Polarisation: Horisontal
FEC: 3/4
Symbole rate: 21600
Type: 4:2:0 DVB-S2
(football French league Bordeaux vs Sochaux)

Satellite: Thor 1W
Frequency: 11469
Polarisation: Vertical
FEC 3/4
Symbole rate: 20000
Type: 4:2:2 DVB-S2
(IIHF World Championship 2009)

The first frequency mentioned worked but it was a non-HD broadcast. I have got Prog DVB Pro (latest version 606) to display Luxe TV HD at 9E, 11804 V 27500. It shares the bandwith though with another HD channel plus 3 standard tvchannels so the bandwith allocated to Luxe TV is much less than the feeds I tried.

As mentioned in earlier posts, when I type in the channel settings in search mode I only get signal, no quality and thus the program does not find the channel. I tried various codecs, no difference. I even tried blind search just around the frequency I wanted to get but nothing came up.
I might add I have LifeView Trio card (DVB-S, DVB-T & DVB-C). It is BDA compliant though. I have configured only DVB-S in Prog DVB Pro as it is my primary interest.

It might be difficult for you to reproduce this problem but if you are in Europe then please try get the hockey feed (usually 4pm or 8pm CET). They usually stay on Thor on mentioned frequency. Or try any other HDTV feed that you might find with high symbole rate.

I like the Prog DVB Pro, its look and features and if I just get this HDTV feed thing work then I'll be happy to purchase a license and become registered user. :P

Damnit.. I think you are right. I checked with 11362MHZ H/ SR 22000 @ Astra 19E which is DVB-S2 FTA. Worked without problems on my Technomate 6900 but not in my computer. I guess I got confused over HDTV and DVB-S2 terms. So this means I have to go shop for a new sat card for my PC

Anybody have suggestion which one I should buy which is not too costly? All I want it for is 4:2:2 feeds in HDTV & DVB-S2. Preferably with HDMI output so I can feed the picture directily to my LCD TV.

Thanks for your help guys. I guess problems solved even tho I did not liked the answer. But it is like that sometimes. I come back and try the Prog DVB Pro again when I have my new card.

Ok I have now ordered a Hauppage WinTV-HVR-4000. Will be nice addition to get DVB-S2. :D Pity tho for the nice Fly Trio I had, fully functioning but no DVB-S2 support.
