I´m running WinXP Sp3 and have downloaded ProgDVB 6.01Std and installed. It first complained about .NET 2 not being installed so I did that.
Installed ProgDVB 6.01Std and start the program. During the start up sequence of the program I have either of two things happening.
The window with the progress bar shows and the icon displays in the tray, but then an error box pops up saying: "ProgDvbNet has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry for the inconvenience." And I can do nothing but accept and it closes.
Or the window with the progress bar shows for 1-2 seconds and the icon shows in tray. Window disappears and.... nothing. And if I hover the mouse pointer over the tray icon it disappears. I opened up Task Manager and looked. During the initial 1-2 seconds the service shows up there and then disappears.
Initially I thought my .NET was wrong so I tried several different versions (yes uninstalling and cleaning in between) but with no luck.
I tried downloading and installing the old version ProgDVB 4.92.2Std. And this version works like it should.
So there is obviously something different from the old version to the new one. What OS files does the new version rely on that the old one doesn´t? Except for the .NET I mean. Perhaps some crucial file(s) is missing, changed or has been corrupted in some way. Because this exact problem happens on some of the stripped OS versions (like LasXP, Tiny/MicroXP, and similar) that you use for carputers or other thin clients. I have some knowledge, or can get help, with OS files and adding/removing components and such. But I don´t know what OS files the program is relying on. Anyone who might be able to share this information?
Admittedly I could reformat and most likely get it working. But I´m interested in using one of the stripped OS´s on my main machine in the future and if I have this info I can rebuild the OS´s with the missing files.
[EDIT:] Is there any switches or something I can start the program with so I can get a debug mode, error logging or running with special compatibility?

I got the same problem.
I always made a XP cd with nLite, removing many components, and ProgDVB 5 always worked. But the new ProgDVB 6 don't.
So I made many and many XP cd removing only some components at time, and then I finally found the problem.
It is the TASK SCHEDULE service.
If it is removed ProgDVB 6 will show splash screen for 1-2 seconds and then crash with no errors.
If Task Schedule service is IN windows ProgDVB 6 work again.
You can disable the service, progdvb still works, but not remove it from windows.
I had to RECOVER my windows installation, with the TASK SCHEDULE inside again, and now Progdvb work.
