Hi
I have a big problem
I have a TT Budget 3200 and a DiseqC 2.0 switch
I have two satelite dish. quattro lnb 1 connected to hellassat2 quattro lnb2 connected to astra. The LNBs are Quattro ie 4 outputs VL HL VH HH.
I connected the two lnbs to the diseqC 2.0 switch and connected it to the TT card
In the settings --> DiseqC and providers i tried everything but i only can see the satelite that is pluged in to lnb1 the satellite on lnb2 isnt recognized by the program?
Also I use Motor at Lnb2 so I set up:
Switch
- HellasSat 2
- Positioner
- Astra
- Hot Bird
So I have the signal from HellasSat
But no Astra?
Can you help me.
Re: Need help with DiseqC 2.0 switch and TT Budget
#2If this is correct, how do you want to handle eight LNB outputs, to get full access on both satellite positions?tubeme wrote:... 4 outputs VL HL VH HH...
You'd need to have (mains powered) multiswitches, to select band and polarisation.
Then, one step after the other:
- try without that positioner, AFTER having pointed that to Astra.
Did you test the motorized system with a receiver before?
So, are you really sure having adjusted the motorized dish mount perfectly???
If not working, try to
- detach the line to LNB1, drive the positioner to HellasSat
Not working -> adjust the motorized dish with a receiver, until working perfect, store positions with it.
OK now?
- then drive to Astra, disconnect the receiver and test again with the TT
However, if not using multiswitches, you can't get 3/4 of the transponders on each bird, for sure.
And if not using powered multiswitches, you are supposed to run into severe LNB power supply trouble, specially when trying to also feed the motor. Copmputer tuners usually have weaker power supply, compared with receivers.

It is DiseqC 2.0 multiswitch.
I have not tested the motorised antenna with regular receiver because I don't have one. The motorized antenna was set up 3 years ago and it was working perfect with Astra and Hot Bird. It is 2,20cm antena. Last week I changed the LNB with a brand new one, upgraded the cabling etc. I have not touched the positioning of the antena from the previous positioning and set up. I mean I moved the antena with the positioner but I have not changed the angles of the rig. I recalculated the angles and all the measurements of the holder for my latitude and longitude and it is perfect. So I tryed to get some signal. And at lnb2 there is no signal at all
Level 0% Quality 0%.
Is it possible? I suppose that there should be at least some measurment that shows the noise level of the LNB despite it is 0.3dB lnb...
So I suppose that the multiswitch is not switching to sat 2 position and thus not giving any signal at the appropriate frequency.
The motor and moving the dish is not a problem it works and moves the antena from ProgDVB...
#6
So you have two DiSEqC switches in your system, that may collide and / or fail to read their commands.
Suppose, seen from the tuner, the DiSEqC 2.0 switch comes first, so it should be an uncommitted type, to let through the DiSEqC signals to the 9/4 and / or DiSEqC motor (or whatever else behind), AND to ignore the commands, that are meant for those.
However, I still don't see, how your system could be wired, to work correctly.
Two LNBs only, this would mean, both are on the 9/4. So, LNB switching is done inside of the 9/4. Then, what for another DiSEqC switch??? And where, for heavens sake? And on what line is your motor connected?
As you can see, precision is an absolute must.
Perhaps make a drawing and upload it somewhere, to let us know, what you really did wire up, exactly...

OK, it's a positioner control unit, not another switch.
And theoretically this kind of setup should in fact work, somehow...
Now things are getting a bit complicated, to test one stage after the other.
First of all, make sure you did not mix up any LNB cables.
Does that DiSEqC positioner control unit allow to be set / used as "uncommitted", means, first and not last unit in a chain, by this being able to ignore and let pass through commands for following up devices?
BTW, do that DiSEqC positioner and motor just live from LNB voltage (what [peak] current are they supposed to draw), or do they have their own power supply? Where's the positioner control unit located, integrated with the motor or in a separate box?
The DiSEqC 2.0 multiswitch would normally have to be handled as "committed", as *.0 tells that.
RTFM, for both units...
Are you allowed to manipulate on the multiswitch, temporarily effecting the other users?
If so, after having labeled each coax cable carefully, detach all those for hellassat. Move all those from the second LNB to over there.
Now you should basically be able to set up ProgDVB for having a DiSEqC positioner with one LNB, no DiSEqC switch.
Test if you can move that dish then.
If yes, head to e.g. Astra and verify you do get stations from there.
If this works, detach the motor drive cable from the positioner unit (if possible), to prevent it from moving.
Then reconnect all LNB cables to their original ports.
Reconfigure ProgDVB to represent that set up.
Make sure you can switch now, between Hellassat and the position the motorized dish really points to now.
Once all this works, reconnect the motor drive cable, try to switch again, between that two positions and watch, if the dish moves away. If so, you have to store all positioner data again.
However, if the positioner control can't do "uncommitted", you're in trouble.
You may have to try and change it's location on the ProgDVB DiSEqC / LNB setup from behind of the DiSEqC 2.0 (Multiswitch) to in front of it, or vice versa.
But for sure not the cables, as the 9/4 surely won't let any DiSEqC controls through to it's inputs...
Besides, are the other three user ports of the 9/4 all in use?
Generally, a 9/4 together with a motorized drive is not the best idea.
Two powered 5/4 with a 2/1 (or even 4/1) on your user ports surely have worked easily.
Then the positioner would just have been placed between those, for your tuner.

More tests and info...
#9Finally I made more tests.
|I got regular reciever and set the motorised dish to Astra 19.2.
So I have Hellas Sat on one dish and Astra 1 on the other.
Then in Prog DVB i set setup as
Switch (4 port Diseqc 1.0)
Port1 - Astra 1
Port2 - Hellas Sat
empty
empty
Then I set up the programs. So the switch works just fine. I was able to recieve channels from both Hellas Sat and Astra.
This set up included more. The Possitioner for the dish motor was connected between the switch and the reciever.
ProgDVB-->Positioner-->Diseqc 2.0 Switch-->LNB
So the Possitioner passed the commands to the switch.
Then I added in the set up in ProgDVB the positioner.
Positioner -
Switch (4 port Diseqc 1.0)
Port1 - Astra 1
Port2 - Hellas Sat
empty
empty
Then I can move the antena with the motor.
So because the antena was at Astra 1. Moved the antena with a step forward and backword and then I set command STORE for the possition 0.
There was Astra preset. Adn I suppose that the possition of astra is Stored as 0 possition.
Then I close the Possitioner contreol window and I just open the Astra saved programs. And I choose Mtv.
At that same moment the ProgDVB sends a command to the Possitioner and the postioner moves in its East Limit position.
Any Idea?
It seems to me that the ProgDVB does not save (remember) the SAT possitions. I was not able to test a Diseqc plugin because the better plug in was meant for PRO version of ProgDVB which i don't have. And the other plug in does not work with my ProgDVB. May be because |I'm using Win7.

Latest Observations
#12No it is not USALS.
When I set up the possitioner in ProgDVB (Diseqc settings) menu I'm able to move the dish. When I choose a sat and transponder in the possitioner menu in order to have a reference with the signal strenght when I move the dish |ProgDVB does not send switch commands. When I choose let say Hot Bird (before I move the dish), ProgDVB does not send a switch command to the Diseqc 2.0 multi-switch and then I recieve the signal only from my static antena on Hellas Sat (Which is set up and my default sat).
Sometimes it switches sometimes it does not.
Anyway when I possition the antena to let say Astra 1. Then I go to scan transponder in ProgDVB. Then I choose frequency and push LOCK in order to lock the frequency before scan.
At that same moment ProgDVB gives command to my possitioner to go to the East Limit.
When move the antena to Astra 1 with manually from the possitioner and in the Diseqc settings in ProgDVB I remove the possitioner from the set up I'm able to set both satelites OK. And ProgDVB switches normal.
I'm with the lates version of ProgDVB.
I Tryed another config:
Switch (4 port Diseqc 1.0)
Port1 - Possitioner
-Astra 1
Port2 - Hellas Sat
empty
empty
It has the same effect as the original set up in ProgDVB:
Positioner -
Switch (4 port Diseqc 1.0)
Port1 - Astra 1
Port2 - Hellas Sat
empty
empty
Also I could not add more than one LNB per Possitioner. I'mean I can get 3,4 sats so I have to set those as presets in the Diseqc setup in order to manage them and scan them
There is something called LIST. Then I can choose more than one sat per possitioner. But this does not work. Because despite I choose 2,3 sats they appear in the list but without names. I cannot change the names of the sats.

There is Progress
#13Hi,
I installed the latest version 11.8
It seems there is a progres in the DiseqC settings.
Now I'm able to set a couple of sats in the LIST menu. Now it works and also the switch is working during the search so I'm able to choose different sats and then move the dish and have reference signal.
It seems that the positions are remembered now. So this works as well.
Where is the problem:
Even when I find a sat, when I go in the scan transponder menu and choose the sat I just found when I push LOCK in order to scan the transponder ProgDVB still gives my dish command to go to the east limit.
It seems to me that LOCK gives my dish to go to Possition 0 which is my east limit.
Maybe when I store the possitions in the DiseqC menu it does not matches positions to sats.
It remembers the postions because manually I can choose GOTO postition and it goes to the correct one. But each position is not remembered for each sat.
So I suppose when i hit LOCK it just gives command to go to position 0.
It does not matter which sat i choose in the scan transponder menu it goes to east limit.
Is there a way I can check wich positions are rememberd tward each sat?
There is some minute error
. You are almost there with the best sat program. When this works I will buy the PRO version.

It works but not good
#14OK I got it in the LIS menu you match postiutions to sats.
It works finally
but with lots of "Program not responding"
waiting and waiting and then it works. It is very sluggish. almost unusable.
Each time I choose different channel it waits and waits and "program not responding" and then it plays the channel.
May be each time i select a program it gives command to the positioner to go to the position and then recieves the channel.....
|Any idea?

Endless Waiting
#15It works but it is endless waiting switching the programs.... on one satellite.
I set up Astra sat have some programs 20 and switching between them....
|The first moment I switch the channel windows clock appears. ProgDVB stops responding (it is written on the ProgDVB title bar). Then the channel apears for a second without sound. Then the picture freezes for another 5 10 second then it shows again without sound and in couple of more seconds the sound comes and I can watch.
It is the same everytime I switch channel at Astra.
As a whole ProgDVB is not responsive. I have to click and wait for 10-30 seconds in order to see the result
When I start the ProgDVB it again is very very slow. maybe 1 minute to open the program.
The progress bar at start up splash very very slow.
