Creatix SAA 7131 with DVB-S

#1
Hello,

I installed progdvb and it worked but I do not get all the programs of e.g.
Astra 19.2. There are a lot of french programs and also e.g. kabel1.au oder kabel1.ch.
The scan finds 82 transponders.
But here is no ARD or ZDF.
What is wrong?

Thank you in advance
ghainz

82 active digital transponders, this should be correct, more or less.
Some depend on your tuner, as DVB-S2 transponders seem to not exist for DVB-S2 incompatible tuners.

Compare with listings at satcodx.com or astra.de

ARD is on 11837 H 27500
ZDF is on 11954 H 27500

If you are missing both transponders, there's something wrong with your system or settings.
It's possible, your tuner behaves different between scan mode and normal TV mode. Or ProgDVB channel list already shows a basic set of transponders, even if not tuning in anything on those.
Try to tune in the ARD transponder manually (and post results).

Then, try to find out, if you are getting ANYTHING on Horizontal.
RTL and ProSieben/Sat.1 transponders also are on Horizontal.

Many, if not all, of the French are Vertical.

Bad polarization switching may come from bad quality long LNB cables, corroded or badly crafted F connectors, excessive LNB power draw or a badly misaligned LNB tilt / skew.

Do you have similar problems with the original software, that came with your tuner, or with a receiver instead?

Thank you.

I tried both, ARD und ZDF both transponders are missing.

I tried several horizontal transponders and they do not work.

When I put the cable on to the receiver, everything works ok.

Heinz

So you may have some kind of LNB power supply trouble, switching to 18 Volts for Horizontal seems to fail.
Again, do you have similar problems with the original software, that came with your tuner ?

I tried the original software and the same result: H does not work.

Any idea to overcome the 18V problem?
The cable from PC to the switch is about 18m long.
As I said, the stand alone receiver works ok.

Thank you

STB power units usually are stronger than those of computer tuners.
Voltage switching may even fail due to some 100 mV missing, depending on the LNB in use.
Common causes for DC voltage losses are e.g. badly crafted or corroded F connectors, worn out or corroded LNB jack or cable, shielding foil connected instead of (all) the shielding wires, to thin inner wire of the cable (resulting in to high DC resistance).
All those losses use to sum up, until the LNB's switching threshold is not reached anymore...

That's the main reason, why I'm using self powered multiswitches and non-switching Quattro LNBs for years now. My cable runs are about 35 m long, with DiSEqC switches in the middle...
