Hello, I'm looking for friendly suggestion,

I'm using progdvb proffesional, version 6.25.02 with module device Smartvision Coship Cdvbany2030s.

Operating System windows xp proffesional sp3

Procesor Core2Duo 2,66 4mb, 3 GB ram, Nvidia 8600GT

My satellite dish is not properly set to preffered position Thor / intellsat 0.8W, level is ~80% and quality may be from 40% and on some channels 80%. I'm planing to find a better position for dish on spring if it will possible.

But because of that, or I think it's because of that,

picture of channel is often completely freezed on signal loss, and what's most iritating is can't be auto refreshed after loss in the signal, each time I need to click on channel manually to refresh the picture, even after that, sometimes it's not enough, I need to completely close progdvb and start it again.

I'm using NVIDIA Pure Video audio and video decoders, I tried with rendering of all types,often result is you have good picture but then sound is scratchy on signal loss and also can't be returned to normal until I click on channel name again!
I tested cyberlink and elecard decoders situation was the same.
Ofcourse, there might be some options I didn't test, so I'm looking for suggestion.

I am typing all this because I share same satellite LNB with my friend, in the same house, it's LNB Quad Alps.
he uses dvbviewer pro with his sateliite device, and his picture never completely freezes, ofcourse he's having the same losses in signal, but it's auto refreshed!



Can it be something changed in the graph or even better, is there some way I can use the graph from dvbviewer?

What happens after a signal loss, do level and quality return to normal afterwards, without re-initiating channel?
If not, you may suffer from some automatic fine tuning failure.
Try to fine tune your LOF (in use), 1 or 2 MHz up or down, to get a more reliable lock behavior.

Well, level is almost always fixed, it's 80-85% , and quality vary between 30-35-40-45% depending on transponder, but mostly is between 40-45%.
What's really strange - the same is happening on channels with 80% quality and with those of 45%.Level is same in both cases.

So, yes , signal is immediately returned after loss to normal - you can't see loss on the signal level and quality indicators because it's quite short, it's only detected on picture and sound , just one short loss and picture can't go on slightly after that - that's how I come to conclusion it could be a graph problem...

I also tested progdvb on my friends pc, and he has the same problems as I- with different hardware , he's using kworld dvb-s100 device with BDA driver !

Just something more, third port of LNB Quad is used for watching SAT TV over Samsung DSR 9500VIACI reciever on 1st floor.

What I noticed, there are few losses in signal sometimes (let's say max two in one hour) but they are noticed only in sound, sometimes in picture - but picture is going on.

In fact this looks like some decoder or streaming issue, not like tuner lock trouble.

Means, I can't help any further here.

hehe don't tell me you are giving up?

I wouldn't say it's decoder problem either, because then I should have same problems when playing dvd's with the same decoders.


Simply Looks like ProgDVB is very "weak" on weak signal, so I'm just asking how can I use graph of DVBVIEWER with your application.
That should work, I think 80%.

DVD software origin decoders aren't really made for weak level signals, that's one possible trouble source on DVB-S. From an optical disc, signals won't be of really low level, just distorted and partly bad, due to scratches, dust and jitter,..
DVD error correction is optimized for disk related errors, not those quite common for satellite.
That's why recovery behavior on DVB-S might be suboptimal, with some DVD codecs.

I don't have any trouble with low level signals with my hardware decoder on the Nexus, as that's designed for satellite. On heavy weather, L may sometimes drop to exactly zero here (on a non-calibrated scale, as usual), whilst Q (equals inverted BER) still is good enough for keeping up a good picture. Rock solid this is. So this is not about giving up. just lack of personal experience with software decoding, graphs and alike.

but then it should work ok with elecard decoders which come with progdvb application,and I think they suppose to givin best picture quality on this point of using progdvb,but it's not Ok even with them, as opposite, I'm having worse picture using elecard decoders then cyberlink's and nvidia's.

Like I said (they suppose to be good)

now, the reason why developer choosed elecard decoders with his application and why not cyberlink or nvidia ones will stay unknown.

Fact is my card works great on DVBDREAM with nvidia decoders ,you have signal losses but graph continue with picture as normal , I can't use it with DVBVIEWER because she don't have BDA driver.

Only one software with DVB subtitles which currently support cdvbany2030s card is progdvb - that's the reason I'm still using trial of it.

There is no future with that card, and it's not nothing new,coship company don't give a damn on questions or any kind of support.

To be honest, every software has a bad and good parts, on dvbviewer diseqc and other options are more complicated for begginers then on progdvb, on the other side, dvbviewer gived me best results in quality of picture on almost 5 pc's with different graphic cards.
