Server - Client

#1
The Server Client problems continue.
I have to start stop and restart many times the server with server module on until I get image.
From client its impossible to change channel on server. I have a 10% succes of only.
I used other ports also but I have the same problems.
I changed the packet size but nothing changed.
I used it also after uninstalling my Internet security software both from Server and Client and WXPSP2 firewall off, but just the same.
Is there another external, not progdvb server client module, to try?
Please tell me anything!

After MUCH troubleshooting, I have found that the problem lies in the server, not the client. I cannot change channels with any of the servers made AFTER 4.73 [0.84], server version 2.60 api 1.28.

I CAN change channels when using server 4.73 and any version of the client (including the latest 4.80.4.

While i have found that the problem lies in the server and not the client, sadly, there is nothing i can do to fix it :(

Exactly the same behaviour in my installation. Only old server versions allow to change channels. I already asked for solution in the old forum.
Nothing happened up to now.

changing chanels from client

#6
Exactly the same problem on my configuration. I got an Pinnacle SAT - TV card and that works fine with the Prog DVB software.
But ...
there is no way to change the chanels from the client on the server. For testing I installed te software twice on the same PC. No problem with receiving the server data to the client installation. But no way to change anything on the server from the client.
And ...
the problem is still alive with older versions (ex. 4.73) on the server-side!
That is maybe a solution but no solution for me...

Has anyone an idea what else could be configured or changed to get the changing chanels from client-side??

Is a license of ProgDVB maybe the solution??

Has anyone a running and full functional server-client installation on Windows XP?

Thank you very much in advance!!

The problem pecists my friends.
I wonder if using a remote desktop aplication software we can solve the problem. Such as "Symantec PC Anywhere".
Please prog tell us if bying your profecional client server version we will solve the problems with it.
It's not a problem for me to buy it, but as I see the results till now with the normal server-client version I'm not sure that your profesional version is working.
We we dont have any answears form our deloved program?

Is there another program that can be used to stream the video? I keep having problems with the channels skipping on the client, but it is running smoothly on the server.

Also, only the older version allows me to switch channels from the client... The newer versions don't let me change the channel on the server from the client.

Is it because im using the Haupphauge card (Nexus) ?

Other Program

You might wanna give VLC a try.
http://www.videolan.org
It is a powerfull Player/streaming Server/Client all in One Solution that works pretty well with different sources and media. It has a module to support TV Cards as well but my card uses no BDA Driver and is therefore not supported. So I Can't tell you how well it works. Streaming a DVD or any Movietype works very very good though. I wish Prog would team up with them an add their streaming capability to his DVB Program.
I wonder if he ever reads this forum anyway, because the streaming problems seem to be quite old and have never been solved, as if he isn't aware of them.
Or maybe noone cares...
