Twinhan 1027 // General Question [solved/then it burned...]

#1
I have been trying to get mine Twinhan 1027 and an torodial dish 75cm wide and 85cm high with an universal lnb and an "hyro hm-2100a" diseqc motor to work but i think i give up,

Mine location is borlänge sweden (in the middle of the country typical)
latitude is 60 and longitude is 15 approx...

I get all channels on horizontal polarization to work ok but all channels
on vertical polarization just comes and goes i shall try another lnb and
last i will try an standard force reciever and see if it looses the channels on vertical polarization for the moment i blaming the card but lets see whats happens...

did read on dvbn forum about that the twinhans powersupply to the lnb under load could be noisy maybe it can affect the operation on the lnb.

The satellite im receiving on is astra 19.2e and hotbird 13.0e and even tried
the stronger thor 2 and 3 at 0.8w

Is there so much harder to get the vertical to work than the horizontal ?
i have set the lnb at "0 degree skew" because i guess the diseqc motor should handle it while it tilt/turning the dish or am i missing something cruical here ??

Thanks for any answers :D

Been looking for another card to replace the twinhan i will probably go for an technisat or hauppauge dvb-s card

And forgot to say:

I just had enough with twinhans crappy bda drivers so thats another really good reason to get an dvb-s pci card that is fully supported by progdvb
its kind of annoying to see all theese crash msg :P

Horizontals use 18 Volts supply, verticals 13 volts.
Means, verticals are easier, technically.
So, if all horizontals are fine, your trouble should not be a matter of power supply.

But, regarding Astra 19.2°E satellite system, please look at the footprints.
Transponders are grouped to beams, some are strong at your place, others are heading elsewhere, more or less...

Go ses-astra.com or lyngsat.com for more details on reception.

Regarding hardware, I cannot help you.
Got my SS1 for years now, no nasty issues over here...

Issue Solved and later on it failed totaly.

Malfunction in the card i use an normal "digital top set box" atm an
force and all channels on astra works incl vertical :D

So twinhan is the is the little devil in mine eyes

So now the hunt begins to find another dvb-s card that can handle an
diseqc motor was about to order an technisat skystar 2 card but the manual
did warn about the risk of damage to the card if used with an motor...

:P

And a few hours later this happened to:

h**p://img155.imagevenue.com/view.php?image=40412_twinhan_vp_1027_122_606lo.jpg

and about the card twinhan says on the webpage:

• Max. LNB supply current: 400mA with short circuit and surge protection

I do not AGREE on that :p

Now it clearly an rma...

Edited the link to not working, as the target is NOT twinhan or ProgDVB related AT ALL
