ProgDVB 4 + Freecom USB Stick = broken PVA recordings

#1
Hi!

I use a Freecom DVB-T USB Stick as a BDA device (newest drivers) with ProgDVB 4.xx (tried different versions) on an Athlon 64 3200, 1024MB system. Recordings in *.mpeg work, but when I try to record in *.pva, I get glitches in sound and a distored picture. This doesn't happen with ProgDVB 5, but in 5 the *.pva file seems to contain at least 2 streams. Is that normal? However, I can demux the ProgDVB 5 *.pvas with ProjectX and the File seems to be ok. The *.mpeg streams in both, ProgDVB 4 and 5 contain a lot of gops, but no visible effects, is that normal too? However, because ProgDVB 5 is for testing and ProgDVB seems to be the more stable version I want to get pva-recording in 4 to work. The Video Renderer is set to ProgDVB renderer cause the application crashes a lot if I choose a different one. Thanks in advance,

.pva records only make sense with cards that have mpeg-2 hardwaredecoder...

ask prog ;)

depends on the used dvb-hardware ...and its well know ...just ignore it ;)

Oh, I see, so, even if pva seems to work in v5 it makes no sense cause my card has no hardwaredecoder? Even if ProgDVB doesn't support TS, is that the same issue (just make sense with hardwaredecoder)? I thought, in pva or TS the whole stream with error correction is recorded which make it more safe.

Thanks in advance,

cards with hardwaredecoder can´t handle .ts ....so no .ts records with these cards ...only budged cards can do that ...so for you this is the best choice ...and yes ...you can record .ts in progdvb using the pid recorder ;)

´error correction´ .... yes ...but the hole stream is only in .ts ...

Thanks! You made my day! Let me ask you a last question. I use ProgDVB just for recordning, not for viewing. If I record a TS stream via the PID recorder (works fine) do the settings under Settings -> Audio and video options -> DirectShow -> Default graphs have any effect on the recorded stream, or are they just for playback? If the original stream is recorded when you use the TS format and the channel broadcasts AC3 sound, than the whole AC3 stream should be in the TS stream, doesn't it? Are there any other settings that could improve the quality of the recorded TS stream or is it regardless, cause its exactly the stream that comes from the DVB device? Installing codecs like nvidia or cyberlink just makes sense for plazback, doens't it? Does it makes an sense to enable DirectDraw and when yes, how can I do this?

Thanks a lot fir now, thanks in advance, have a nice day

just for playback/Live TV

Yes , in the .ts stream is video and every audio stream thats sends from the channel...

its regardless...because its exactly the stream that comes from the DVB device ...
Does it makes an sense to enable DirectDraw
Its enabled by default ...but you only need it when watching Live TV ;)
