There are some "small issues" in Progdvb, details that I long wish to see fixed, to make program more friendly. In my opinion they are bad design or incomplete development of a idea. Will expose some, and I ask Prog to consider them. :wink: Hope others can help in suggestions, too...
#01 - Issue: Loosing Satellite list every time we update Progdvb.
The satellite list that cames with Progdvb (all.list) is problematic, it doesnt have the separation of bands, so C band is together with Ku band, and i have to put back my own list every time I update Progdvb.
As program permits use of own frequencies list (nnnn.Userlist) (that are not erased in every update), it should also permit a all.Userlist with my desired satellites, and that is not erased every update.

#02 - issue. The transponder editor is difficult to find.
Progdvb has a frequencies editor, that can be found here:
Settings> Tv Sources> (choose satellite) > Properties > Transponders list.
For those that doesnt have a blind search card, the transponder editor may be very usefull, so why not put it here:
Chanell list> Transponder editor, to permit easilly edit your active satellite?

#3 - issue - The transponder editor needs some improovement

a- To add a new frequency, you can enter it in MHz, though program will save it in KHz. But why not convert frequency to KHz immediatelly (in screen) after writting it? It is very confusing mixed M and K frequencies together.

b- It is needed a sort function by frequencies and by polarisation. Thats usefull to find a frequency, and to check if we didnt enter a repeated frequency...

c- Allow a comments field after transponder parameters.
In my transponder list I add a date to every frequency, in format ";yyyy/mm/dd". It is usefull to delete old frequencies long not renewed after a blind scan, or whatever the user wants to remember.

Ps. For everybody to know, the transponder editor generates the "nnnn.Userlist" transponder lists cited above.

1. Why current mechanism is not good? For example I have 0048.UserList with my transponders.

2. Yes, But how many users need this? I like minimum elements in main menu.

3.b. Not sorted now? Please send me screen.

Let's make Progdvb friendly to all the world, is what I ask!

1 - Mixing together diferent bands in the same transponder list is correct?
For this issue, the present all.list is useless for me ( and many others, obviously Im not the only to use satellites with two or more bands).
To fix this problem, just allow use a personal satellite list - a all.Userlist - with only one section -
  • - where we can put the satelites positions e satellites names we need. Ex:
    • 2527=Anik F1/c
      2526=Anik F1/ku
      2470=SatMex 6/c
      2469=Satmex 6/ku
      2432=SatMex 5/c
      2431=Satmex 5/ku

      Then we can blindscan or edit by hand or by the editor the respectives transponders lists (nnnn.Userlist). Those who dont need other satellites, ku band is enough, just keep using the all.list.

      2- Before I get a blindscan card, I would spent hours editing frequencies, so I think that still many may need editing facilities. One line more in a menu item wont make any difference...

      3b- New frequencies are kept at the end of the editor table, and at the end of actual transponders list, too. Could not find any sort kind inside the editor. But it will be very usefull to the frequency and to the polarisation parameters.

      PS.
      I forgot to say, but there are two bugs in the transponders editor.
      1 - you cant navigate across a line using the right/left arrows, so you cant easilly go to a cell to edit its content;
      2- there is drop-down action in the frequency and in the SR cells. That makes no sense, as the possibilities here are beyond space of any list.

I found one more bug related to the transponders editor:

In Diseqc 1.2 Positioner dialog you can access the transponder editor, too.
It is here: Positions > (choose satellite) > Transponder List.

But it doesnt open the nnnn.Userlist associated to the choosed satellite, instead is opened a blank table. Only original list (all.list) can be reached in this dialog.

As I asked several times before here, this is one more reason to simply eliminate this Positions buttom from positioner dialog, as it is full loaded of bugs, and has no utility there.

Yes, they are requests. But as this are things co-related, small things easy to disappear in a multi-page topic, I think it deserves a own topic.
And I always hope other users can colaborate in the same matter.
What you preffer: a Sony or a Xing-Ling equipo? I prefer a Sony, as mostly everything works in it, as should be. Bugs should be fixed. Thats the issue.
And requesting is the only way to have it fixed, isnt it?.

1- I had asked here before for better C band support, with fixes and improve to the frequencies editor.
2- Now with PLS support, i ask Prog how will this reflect on the frequencies list?
3- And I see there´s a "pos=nnnn" parameter in the frequencies list, so for what is it?
4- Will lists permit MIS parameters?
5- For me, still think its easier to use individual lists "nnnn.UserList" for each band, with little position offset, than large mixed band frequencies. And just allow use of a All.UserList with satellites position and names.

Well, all this perhaps a Christmas present for us? :D

1. What you mean? All.list is always from installer. I am not plan change that. User can use xxx.userlist files.
2. Only in manual scanner. Do you have many PLS transponders? :)
3. I am only take this file from fastsatfinder.com
4. Manual Scanner -> Detect ?
5. I am not have idea about SIMPLE interface for configuration this...
