Skystar 1 CI + device cannot start

#16
Hi All

I think Silencer is right (in this thread) the SS1 device cannot start in ProgDVB because it is already running as a data card!!

But surely it can be stopped. So since no info is offerred here excepting that the ss1 should be selected as the card on loading ProgDVB then that is maybe the only way.

As the moderators have no problem with SS1 then loading it as the card on start must somehow either make it compatible on restart or prevent it loading as a data card on restart - or split its function as clearly happens with its own software!!.

It seems fair also that there must be a way to stop it starting as a data card in the registry etc - maybe not, and maybe if it has two separate functions then that doesn't matter - so long as the video/audio signal aspect is available to progDVB.??

Since its in a PCI slot, and it requires power for the lnb it obviously has to start, but as for its own OEM software it needs to be seen for video and signal without the data aspect preventing it being 'started' in progDVB.

This is surely all reinventing the wheel - so how about the moderators telling us how to do it??

cheers to al :-)

The original software package installs a data application and puts a link to it into the start menue Autostart folder (real location on the windows folder structure may depend on OS and user name).
Remove that link and the autostart is gone.
There's no reason to search the registry for this.

The original TV application knows a proprietary trick, to stop and restart the data application automatically.
It does NOT depend on the data application in any way.

The SS1 TV and networking components can not be used seperately.

Technisat SS1 CI + specific support in ProgDVB

Hi, Thank you. I reckon you guy's are pretty good. But I think you could be more thorough.

For example: Many PC users playing with PCI Satellite and PVR are quite capable with their PC registry etc - so don't be scared to tell them EXACTLY what you would do - if the problem was your own!

EXAMPLE - Windows XP Auto Runs:

You answer all AUTOSTART problems like this:

"AUTORUNS is free and works on all versions of Windows including 64-bit versions.

To stop any auto start interfering with ProgDVB on instal or start-
Go to http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysint ... fault.mspx

Click on 'Process Utilities' this will take you to-
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysint ... l=featured

Click 'Autoruns' this will take you to-
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysint ... oruns.mspx

Read this page, then scroll to bottom and down load 'Download Autoruns and Autorunsc (490 KB)'

Run AUTORUNS - scroll to ....?...... uncheck ....?.... and uncheck .....?.....

Exit the programme; and restart your PC; then re-start/re-load ProgDVB"

So do you like this idea! Go for it!!

:D

ProgDVB should not interfere with any other software's autostart or anything else, on it's own. I would indeed call such bad manners...
For the same reason, it does not try to make itself the default application for anything, or phone home, or disable others, or whatever else...

BTW, for some other hardware, it may even be necessary, to have a quite similar autostart running, to make a device available for ProgDVB.
Trying to support a great part of all the DVB hardware on the market may result in a few limitations or extra user action required, compared with a dedicated software for just one model or HW concept.
