Run DBA graph error

#1
Hello,

after starting ProgDVB 5 I get first 'run DBA graph error' and than 'Device not started ({DBA} 713x BDA DVBS Tuner)'.
The Creatix SAA7131 card has a analog, DVBT and DVBS receiver and receives DVBS programms with other preinstalled TV-programms.
The device list shows active DVBT card (nothing attached) and inactive (redcrossed) DVBS card (2 LNB attached).
After trying do change device list program hangs (no reply).

Is ProgDVB working with this TV-card (Medion 8828 PC) with anybody?
What may be done against the graph error?
Is it possible that services in Vista from MS Media Center or Sceneo (TVCenralCore) block the card (how to identify)?

I hope sombody may help me, many thanks in advance

I did this of course first , it is not the first forum that I join, but my first TV-card.
In the device list is the DVBT part of the card automatically after start (but i dont need it) and I tried to activate the DVBS part of the card.
The DVBS displays with a red cross, and remains in list also if i uninstall/install ProgDVB.
I am not able to deactivate the DVBT part, the program hangs, if i open the device settings.
And there are a lot of registry entries in an other topic, i started comparing them, they seem to be the same.
Does it give a sense to compare them completly?

Is anybody using this TV-card with ProgDVB?

Hallo,

is anybody able to use the card Creatix SAA7171 in the Medion PC 8828 PC with ProgDVB?
What does the message DBA graph error mean?

If I try to enter device setting to disable the DVB-T device, ProgDvbNet will hang.

Maybe any of the resident services for Sceneo (AbsolutTV) or MS Media Center is not compatible to ProgDVB.

Does anybody know which services has to be stopped prior to start ProgDVB?

Hi,

I have found a bypass to configurate the SAA7171 Card.
After Windows boot, i used the card with an other SW (TVCentralCore) and started ProgDVB as Administrator in XP compatible mode.
After that i was able to configure the device 713x BDA DVBS Tuner with ProgDVB. After setting the satelittes I was able to search for channels and start TV from Astra.
But I am not able to find channels on the second LNB with Hotbird.
I configured 22khz switch for two LNBs assigned Astra 19,2 to first entry, Hotbird 13,0 to the second entry. But I can not find any channel on Hotbird.
In an other Receiver 22khz high/low is defined with Astra assigned to DiseqC #1 and Hotbird assigned to DisegC #2.
What das Ku band, C-band, Circular and power mean and what is the difference from simple switch and 22khz switch in the switch and LNB menu?
How a dual LNB has to be configured?

Natively the BDA system does not support DiSEqC, nor can it be extended generally. Same goes for other DVB specific switching, like DVB-S to -S2 and back, for example.
Generic options are few, as BDA originally was designed for terrestrial services, and you don't really need much switching there...

Manufacturers do have some proprietary tricks, to bypass resp. tunnel through the BDA interface. But these normally aren't public.

So. DiSEqC can only been made available for BDA devices, if the manufacturer supplies (or lets leak out) some extra details. Device by device...

'713x' does not really point to your hardware. Seems, you can only have basic BDA functions available this way...

Thanks go to the architect of BDA, retired Bill G. from R. ,,,

______________

Now for some details:
22kHz for position switching would only work, IF you have a 22kHz position switch. But then, you could not switch high / low band anymore, the first LNB would only work on low band, the second only on high band (if switch does not include a blocker) or only on low band (if switch with blocker used).

Also depends on your LNBs, as most modern ones are universal ones, including 22kHz band switching.

Ku band is the frequency band Astra and Hotbird are using, between 10,7 and 12,75 GHz.
C-Band is far lower, around 3 - 4 GHz, and it needs far bigger dishes in most cases. Gives less loss on extremely heavy weather, this for is preferred in tropic regions of the world. Normally not used in Europe.
Circular polarisation is an alternative method to linear, also irrelevant for us.
Power indeed means electrical power for LNB supply, but it also knows two different levels, 13 Volts used for vertical polarisation, 18 volts for horizontal.

What exactly do you mean by 'dual LNB'?

Originally this meant a low band only LNB with fixed seperate outputs for vertical and horizontal.
Useless these days.

There are Twin LNBs, or precisely TWIN Universal LNBs, that provide independent outputs for two receivers, allowing each to freely access both polarisations and bands. More outputs are available from Quad or Octo (Universal) LNBs.
Dual and Quattro LNBs are made for use with multiswitches only.

And there are Monoblock LNBs, that provide two feed horns for two positions, and they may have one or more outputs, but in any way must come with internal position switching, which will in any case be DiSEqC or at least ToneBurst, NOT 22kHz for position switching.
Simple means Toneburst.

In America (at least), the situation is completely different, that's why all that options are in...

Well, all this is about satellite basics, which normally would effect first time users of original software, eventually being supported by their verdors or consuming HowTo publications of any kind...
So generally, this is not our business over here.

This is a support board for ProgDVB, not for general satellite system builders or DIY installers in the first place.

DiseqC Multischalter

Thanks for the explanation.

I am using a Smart MS 94BK DiseqC Multischalter with two Quad LNB input (Astra, Hotbird) and 4 Receiver output.
Which driver or additional modul do I need to get input from both satellite?
In my other receiver 22khz is configured.
In TVCentralCore the BDA driver is configured and 22kHz is enabled, LNB 1 position A, LNB 2 position B enable burst.
How may I use this in ProgDVB?

PS: I added the HW-information to my signature too.

Right now, there's nothing you can do.

BDA interface for that card would need to be updated by Prog occasionally, if he succeeds in finding out about the trick for this hardware. Or perhaps get enough support, to make a device for a WDM driver, if available.

Toneburst is a routine, that's done by the DiSEqC routines as well, so it also can't work for now, sorry.
