Anyway, on the download page you should have read the following:
You can use all base functions of ProgDVB free of charge without restrictions in ProgDVB Standart edition. Some additional functions, such as "Picture in a picture"(only in 5.x), AVC,H.264,AAC and DVB-S2 support, work with several audio streams and some other, are available in ProgDVB Professional only.
No idea, if pretty old versions of ProgDVB also have all of these limitations. Maybe they could have done h.264 with suitable codec and graph (no idea how to identify the Video ID though), but definitely no DVB-S2 then.
So, MPEG2 HD, should be working in any case. h.264, with modern versions only on Pro versions, if codec available. Else, only Pro and with codec, of course. DVB-S2 only Pro, for sure. And as DVB-S2 HD always uses h.264, codec required as well.

Not my decision anyway, it's a complicated world...
