Hi,
I use a Nova-T USB2 through BDA. Recording and viewing works fine. However, I would like to display and record "teletext subtitles" (I don't now if there's a better word for that). That is, subtitles for a program that run on an continually update teletext page. I can display that teletext page fine in the separate, built in teletext viewer. But I'd like to
(1) overlay it on the video when watching and
(2) record it to a file for playback use (ideally a file in the .srt or .sub format).
Also, when I check the teletext page with the subtitles, they run a few seconds ahead of the video and audio (or rather, the V/A is delayed I suppose) so I'd like to
(3) set a delay for the teletext subtitle when overlaying and/or recording.
I have tried the option at "Service > Subtitle (ETS 300743)" but selecting that seems to do nothing. Also, on each "channel properties" there's a Subtitle dropdown box with some items and corresponding numbers. I suspected the numbers could be for teletext subtitle page numbers so I tried setting the standard teletext page number for that here in sweden (page 199). But that didn't help. Also, I've browsed the forum and read the manual page without find a solution/answer.
So now I have to ask for help. Can I overlay and/or record these subtitles? Are plugins needed? Special settings? Any help is very appreciated!

The playback routines of ProgDVB don't read .srt files, you had to find another player for this.
BTW, the ETSI subs are a completely different system, not used on many places of the world.

Hi,
I don't playback any recorded files in ProgDVB so that's no problem.
But my question concerned (1) displaying teletext based subtitles when viewing live TV in progDVB and (2) saving the same subtitles when recording programs in progDVB.
So to cut it even shorter: can progDVB "live-display" and/or record teletext subtitles in any format?

Standard subs are transmitted as TXT pages.
ProgDVB can read pre-set pages from the TXT module and insert them OSD like.
The subs page has to be set up in the channel props manually.
If defined, subs display is activated over the adjacent button of ProgDVB.
As this is done over OSD functions, the relevant OSD settings must be working.
Using M. Voronko made TXT module 0.27 here.
No idea of ProgDVB 5.x versions, as they don't work on my Win98SE.

Hi again,
Regarding live display of subtitles:
Well, I have set and applied the channel properties subtitle number to 199 (the teletext page with subs in sweden). I also tried the preset number 100. I have then clicked on the subtitle button in the toolbar. But no subs are displayed. Any other ideas what I might need to do to get it to work?
(Just to be clear, I see the subtitles in the separate teletext window so I know that they are there and that progDVB can read them, only not display them on the video)
Regarding recording of subtitles to a separate file:
Is that possible? How?

Once the subs are displayed in OSD, they will also be automatically recorded to nameless file ".srt" in ProgDVB base folder (if not specified differently in TXT.ini).
Having searched my machine for ".srt" files, I've found out, an older ProgDVB once recorded <recording_name>.srt to the pre-defined recording folder here, obviously I had made the settings according to this.
But, as I never ever made use of that subs, I've never tested this again.
On several of all the installations I have here, above version 4.6x, there is that nameless .srt file, with more or less content.
But not everywhere, as I did not set the subs page on most stations.
P100 is ProgDVB default, always inactive.
Page number must be different from 100 (and contain valid subs, of course), to work.

Looks OK.
So, do you get the subs button active when being on that station?
Then it should be possible, to get the subs into your OSD, by use of that button.
Can't really test over here right now, because subs aren't transmitted all to often on german stations...
But I can assure you I had them working here occasionally, for years now, in HW mode of my Nexus and on both it's TV out and the PC screen.
May have been with an older version though, as I'm not using 5.x regularily (Win98SE as default OS).
By the way, noone else around here, who could assist a bit?
A frequent user of subs, for example?
PLEASE...
