Hello,
I am trying to use ProgDVB to receive my local cable provider.
For some reason ProgDVB is the only DVB software able to detect any channels - but only when I manually scan the proper frequencies using the "Scan transponder" feature. When I do a channel search nothing is found. How can that be?
And some other weird stuff - Even when I detect channels using the scan transponder feature, for some reason all channels show as encrypted - Even though some are not. When I try to watch those channels I do get video but there are a lot of jumps and hangs. The signal quality is about 50%.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
P.S. - My card is TechnoTrend Budget C-1500 DVB-C card.

some dvb-c cards can´t do that in progdvb .......or you don´t have a proper transponder file in \progdvb\transpondersWhen I do a channel search nothing is found. How can that be?
too low signal level..Even when I detect channels using the scan transponder feature, for some reason all channels show as encrypted - Even though some are not. When I try to watch those channels I do get video but there are a lot of jumps and hangs. The signal quality is about 50%.

Thanks, I've created a transponders ini file and now the search function works. However the problem of all channels showing as scrambled still exists.SiLencer wrote:can depend on some cards or you have not a proper transponder file in \progdvb\transpondersWhen I do a channel search nothing is found. The signal level is indeed at about 25%, however my original cable receiver shows the level at about 65% and the reception is perfect. Additionally, I've tried using a DVB analyzing software called TSReader and it also reports perfect reception.SiLencer wrote:too low signal level..Even when I detect channels using the scan transponder feature, for some reason all channels show as encrypted - Even though some are not. Any guesses how that could be?
Thanks!

strange ...but can be changed in channel propertiesHowever the problem of all channels showing as scrambled still exists.
maybe a driver issue..don´t show the truth signal level in progdvbAny guesses how that could be?

50% Q point to a high bit error rate and weak signal.
Try to increase signal level, e.g. by putting the RF loop of a VCR in front, or an RF amplifier close to the signal source. But if that already exists, make sure, to not have set it's tuner pack switched to 'local' or 'att.'.
Take out all possible soures of signal loss, like splitters and alike, to test. Connect directly to the calbe outlet. Go systematically...

Juergen - I've tried everything: Connecting it directly, connecting it through my cable operator's receiver, connecting it through a VCR, connecting it through an amplifier (which I think may be broken because it has this knob which controls the amplifying level and the higher I turned it the worse results I got) - The signal levels never got higher than than 30%.
P.S. - I found something interesting. There are 13 different transponders. All of them but one have a symbol rate of 6890 and modulation of 256 QAM. The last one has different attributes: Symbol rate of 6510 and modulation of 128 QAM. For some reason that transponder is received perfectly. The box-receiver also reports better results with that transponder but the difference is not as great as with ProgDVB.

This may as well be a hint for tuner overdrive, which can give results quite similar to low level.NegativeIQ wrote:J... So. if you can, try to reduce level some dB, f.e. by insertion of a splitter or level adjuster.
It's pretty normal if different modulation type or data rate also gives a bit different level reading. and if you're close to any limit, this may decide about failure or success...
All this testing, just to exclude a tuner problem...
Sorry, but there's no other way, if you don't have RF testing equipment...
