ProgDVB Version: 5.15.7, Capture HW: Medion SAA7134 DVBS, Hybrid Capture Device
Question: is ProgDVB able to restart itself after hibernation resp. standby soon before a programmed recording is to be started? Or is it necessary to use another program for this purpose? There was a similar question in the forum, posted on Feb. 28th by MartaMarco, but unfortunately without helpful answer.
Situation: one or two recordings are programmed, each with hibernation after recording. The first is done from the running PC and hibernates then correctly. But the PC stays hibernated, even when the second recording time is come. After de-hibernating manually later, ProgDVB at once executes a new hibernation. It also creates an .MPG file, but with file size = 0.
Hibernation incl. wakeup worked on my PC, e.g. with CyberLink`s PowerCinema. So I estimate it may be a problem with ProgDVB.
Thanks for looking at my problem

Details rule:
- what sleep mode(s), precisely? Like, hibernate on file, or suspend to RAM, ...
- are you also allowing the HDD to fall asleep? If so, what kind of drive, controller etc.? In case, is the hiber file located on the same physical drive?
- same or different station / transponder / polarisation / band / bird?
- when was that zero byte file created, at the end of the first event, or at the second scheduled time (beginning or end) or at the moment of the manual wakeup?
- how do you notice the machine did not wake up the second time, exactly?
- does this happen always or just occasionally?
- ...
If in any doubt, please try to simulate (again).

Thanks Juergen for your quick reply!
Implicitely I take from your reply, that ProgDVB should be able to restart from hibernation - that´s good news!
So here are more details:
(I run a German XP Version, so I re-translated some Windows expressions to English. Maybe I didn´t match the original english expressions...)
1) Sleep Mode:
in ProgDVB, Dialog "Scheduler record", Do action...: Hibernate
in BIOS, Power Management Setup:
PCI Express PME: Enabled
Power Button Function: Power Off (I do not use the power button for hibernating)
Wakeup Function Setup:
Wakeup by PCI card: Enabled
USB KB/MS Wakeup From S3: Enabled
PS/2 KB Wakeup From S3: Enabled
PS/2 MS Wakeup From S3: Enabled
PS/2 KB Power On: Disabled
Resume by RTC Alarm: Enabled (Date of Month Alarm: 0, Time (hh:mm:ss) Alarm: 0:0:0
in SystemManagement ("Systemsteuerung"), Energy options ("Energieoptionen"):
Tab Energy schemas: Switch off Monitor - never, switch off harddisk - never, standby - never, hibernation ("Ruhezustand") - after 2 Min.
Tab Hibernation ("Ruhezustand"): Activate Hibernation ("Ruhezustand aktivieren") - checked.
I didn´t find more details on sleep mode, as You requested (on file, to RAM, hiber file...?). Where are these parameters located?
2) Harddisk:
One single HDD: WDC WD3000JD-00KLB0, IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller: Intel 82801FB(/FBM) Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 2652 resp. 266F.
3) I used the same Channel for my experiments, so channel switching should not be the problem
4) I noticed NO wakeup because I sat beside the PC waiting for wakeup. So I am quite sure that nothing happened, no monitor action, no sound, the PC remained quiet and so on...
5) the problem(s) occur always.
6) The procedure in details:
ProgDVB uninstalled. All remaining files/folders and keys in registry deleted.
ProgDVB reinstalled.
Let´s say the current time is X.
Service->Scheduler: Add record: Start time X + 5 min, Finish time x + 6 min, Filename TestA, Do action.. Hibernate
Add record: Start time X + 15 min, Finish time x + 16 min, Filename TestB, Do action.. Hibernate
Add record: Start time X + 25 min, Finish time x + 16 min, Filename TestC, Do action.. Hibernate
Waiting for the first record to take place... ProgDVB is running...
Just in time the first record starts and ends, file TestA.mpg is correctly filled, then the PC goes automatically to hibernation.
Now it was time to sit and wait for about 20 minutes.... noting happened (see 4) above)
Manual wakeup via power button
Today (different from yesterday!!) no at-once-hibernation(s) occured. No files TestB.mpg or TestC.mpg have been created (not even with file size 0). The 2 records (TestB and TestC) remained in scheduler.
Greetings
Stefan

Hibernation mode would be a matter of OS internal system controls, but I did not play around with this in deep, as (beneath a few other components) my Nexus won't wake up properly.
Perhaps look into WinFAQ for issues like this.
Do you have / use a file hiberfile.sys, size >= RAM?
Success will depend on your DVB hardware (and drivers), too, so also check the manufacturer's pages.
Unreliable behaviour in most cases is driver related, like e.g. based on some timings (you can't adjust).
