I see that you are the experts here and I hope you don't mind me asking you a few questions. I have XP and using the nexus-s card as mentioned.
This has worked for me for over 4 years now. I used the original drivers that came with the card and I have upgraded to 2-18 and 2.19 Currently and using 4.85-2 and it isn't stable. Have tried all other versions 5.16 & 6.02 and haven't had any luck as it encounters errors and shuts down or locks the computer up, Alt.Cont. del. has to be used somtimes to get the system back. It really loads up the computer........it is a P4, 2G memory, N-videa 5200 V-card so that isn't the problem, I don't think. I have Mytheatre 3.38 and it works but I really like Prog....and all its features. Do you have any ideas what I might not be using that is causing all that newer versions to not work on this setup. As I have said it is working with 4.85-2 but very unstable and will scan the Sats. but won't populate the channels for some reason. If I use the remote and go thru 6 or more channels I get the message Windows encounterd a problem and needs to shutdown.....very annoying. I thought I would ask the Experts for your advice. I have a Neusat FTA but it is down for the last year or so. No current Bins that are working. I will supply any other info for you if needed. Maybe the codec is the problem? I'm not sure!
Thanks in advance!

Better try even older versions.
I am using 4.75 here by default, as that's the last one to properly support hardware file playback.
You won't find that to download from here, but it may still be around at several other places. Else get the latest available right before that one.
Scannner issues will not just depend on the version of ProgDVB, but also on the position(s) you are on.
And for older versions you may have to put this into the ProgDVB.ini at the end:

BTW, with as Nexus in HW mode, even a Pentium 1 MMX with 166 MHz does the job.[Scaner]

Version 4.85 is the last version I have used lately. It won't populate channels when I scan. I have used later versions just to get the channels and put them into the channel folders after scanning. This weekend I down loaded all the recient versions with no luck. I ended up with 4.62. It works but shut down often but it scans channels. I just can't figure out why Prog encounters so many problems. It doesn't seem that other peeps are having all these issues. Is prog not used all that much? I know that there are several programs out there. Mytheatre isn't all that user friendly but it has a great EPG which I use often. I have an older PC that I used to have this Nexus-s card installed, just for the sat. TV and I think it might have worked better then this newer system I am using now. It had 98 SE and I upgraded thinking it would be better, not so. Is it the Hauppauge Nexus card that isn't supported any more? Hell.....I bought that card because it had a dongle with video out thinking that was the way to go and it wasn't cheap! Any ideas would be appreciated.

Try to find on the internet version 4.72.6 of the ProgDVB. This one works fine for me with 2.17g driver.

..and make sure to have an exclusive IRQ for it, don't allow plug&play BIOS or Windows to do the whole job. Specially avoid IRQ sharing with your VGA, LAN or an eventual video grabber. In case, rearrange PCI cards, after reading the mainboard's manual for (primary) IRQ <-> INT# coordination.
Think about spending some bucks on more RAM, up to 512 MB (or 1GB wit the inofficial SP from nandlstadt.com) for Win9x or even more for NT based Win. If more inside, limit physical RAM for Win9x, to no more that 1150 MB.
Watch if crashes only happen on certain stations. If so, try to compare with TXT and EPG disabled and ProgDVB restarted.
Please post full results.
